| The main point of this thread is really just me publicly addressing my own doubt of Nnamdi. After last year I began to doubt if Nnamdi was really the elite corner we were all led on to believe, maybe Oakland's scheme really did make him look a lot better than he was. But after watching a lot of film from last year, and looking at his stats over the year I'm pretty confident he is an elite cornerback who's drop off in play last year was due to a new scheme. The number that really pops out to me is that every single year for the last 4 years he has been the least targeted cornerback per snap, by a HUGE margin as well. He's been only been targeted 134 times since 2008, despite being in coverage for 1,806 snaps! So he's only targeted once per 13.5 snaps, the next best for a corner is around 9. To me that has to mean something, the fact that he is rarely targeted means more than just "QBs decided to ignore him and throw the other way," sure that definitely helped but he's not the only corner who stays on one side and is much better than the opposing cornerback. All I'm saying is that Nnamdi is viewed as overrated but he's really not, this guy is the 2nd best corner in the game and I'm positive that at worst this year he'll miss half of the tackles he missed last year. He's among the top in amount of passing snaps since 2008 yet he's at the bottom in targets, receptions, yards and TDs. He's going to return to all-pro form next year and I'm sure of it. |

First of all the Oakland scheme was man to man with one safety over the top. Not exactly a scheme that would make a player look better than he actually was.
Secondly, he was again the least targeted CB and played more than just the right side. Obviously he couldn't go to the left side because Asante never moved.
Thirdly, it was greatly exaggerated in how bad he played. We tracked his weekly performance and it seems like he was awarded more catches where he was the closest guy to the ball even though if it was the safety that was supposed to be there. With Asante gone and having a year under his belt, they won't have as many breakdowns.
Lastly, no doubt he gets back to being an All Pro player. Definitely needs to tackle like he did in Oakland but I hope Castillo matches him up with the best opposing WR all game. And please don't play DRC in the slot LOL. _________________

People who know nothing about football questioned Scrabble. Hes the second best corner in the league behind Revis, the dude is a freak show HOF type talent, i swear he looks like hes 6'6 out there, dudes arms cover a 30 yard radius lol. There was still not a better free agent out there this year in comparison to Scrabble. _________________

He will look a lot better this year on our man to man press scheme. _________________

Last year was an aberration. Nnamdi will be just fine this season. _________________

It disgusts me when people say he was bad last season. I'll take "worse than usual Nnamdi" but there are so many reasons for that and they have been listed in this thread already.
Like everyone has said he will do tremendously better this year. _________________

Asante and Nnamdi both got trashed when they played pretty damn good. Obviously he is motivated and ready to prove the haters wrong. Is Castillo going to use him the same he did last year or no more playing safety? _________________

Nnamdi's struggles last year was not on him, it was on juan not knowing what the hell he was doing as a DC. He took the best press-man corner in the league & forced him to play zone & some slot which is not his forte. As we saw in the last 4 games when Juan switched to Press-Man with DRC, Nnamdi looked like Nnamdi again. I expect him to bounce back this season and look like the 2nd best corner in the league which he is. _________________
