TC Day 1 Press Conference, 3:00 PM on June 21st, 2012 with Head Coach Phire
[Opening] The first day of camp battles has begun. Bednarik60 pulled a hamstring while flirting with a reporter. There are no other injuries. The time is yours.
| Quote: | | Reporter 1: "Coach, can you comment on the recent roster shakeup?" |
Yes, after much deliberation, we, the coaching staff, spoke to Hammertime52 and agreed it was best for the team for him to switch to RDE. We have complete faith in his ability as a defensive end.
We were also able to offer contracts to two offensive linemen who now appear on the roster and depth chart.
| Quote: | | Reporter 2: "Coach, how have the camp battles looked so far?" |
There's still plenty of time, and we're keeping a close eye on how the guys react to the challenge. You can't always win. You're going to lose sometimes. And it's how a man responds to those trying times that define your character.
| Quote: | | Reporter 3: "Coach, there are rumors that newly added oland11 has received criticism from fans and within the locker room. JRoc calling him out as "the weak link". Is there truth behind the rumors?" |
Hey you know, it's a beautiful day out but when you've got pads on and you're running around, hitting each other and competing, things can get hot. I treat my players as men. And I expect men to behave as men and resolve things on their own. This is not the place for childish antics and small bickering. But it's hot, real hot, and I don't believe this will continue to be an issue after today. _________________

Well if we are pass-heavy i'm fine. I'd worry about the other weak point(s). Ya'know. Perhaps finding more than one O-Lineman? |
The rest of our line is beast. Who forgot to tell you? |

Yea...And when i'm handed All-Pro honors you're the ones going to be called the "weak link" ;D |
Do you know what's going on here? |
Do you know I was joking? _________________

Coach, I insist on 1-on-1 drills this afternoon with the O-line. _________________

Alice is already buried from the destruction we put upon her. _________________

Alice is an all-pro, HoF type lineman who plays multiple positions on the line.
And she's caught the assistant HC's eye.

Be careful what you wish for. With the end of the month near , the Triplet's might have their way with the DL. _________________

Injuries:
None.
Individuals:
Defense
DL: Footwork drills
LB: Recognition drills
DB: Read and React drills
Standouts: Hammertime52, sunnygsm
Offense
OL: Sled
QB/WR/TE: Route running, pass/catch
RB/FB: Pass blocking
Standouts: Dr. Philly, Jeezla
Afternoon Practice:
Warm-ups, lead by:
Blahman, Kiltman, and Killdawabbit
Team practice
11 v 11s
Standouts: Jroc, Willylaw, SiLo
Summary: Today's team practice featured an intense showing by the defense. Defensive coordinator 808 really has his guys amped up. Blahman had little to no time in the pocket and was sacked a few times. Note: The defense weren't allowed to actually hit the red jersey.
Throughout the day things were getting hot between Jroc and Oland. They requested 1v1s between the DL and the OL but we as coaches knew better. We weren't trying to pit emotion vs emotion and we have a formula we're trying to follow.
But that didn't mean we couldn't do something about the tension between the two.
So we allowed a post-practice 1v1, Jroc (who had to make a move and get beyond his opponent) vs Oland (who had to prevent his opposition from getting passed him).
Everyone watched, including players and coaches. To spice things up, the players made a deal that if Jroc won, the offensive line would have to treat the DL to dinner that night, and if Oland won, the DL do the same for the OL. _________________

PRACTICE CHALLENGE TIME
JROC v. OLAND
To settle who won the 1v1 that was requested in practice.
Remember that if you lose, your unit (DL or OL) has to treat the opposing (DL or OL) to dinner for the night. By the end of the day, please submit into THIS THREAD a picture (within forum rules) that represents a "Mother Lewis".
For reference, a "Mother Lewis" can be used in this way:
