Yeah, I hear ya. 3 ints in 13 games is more ints than we've seen from a safety since Taylor.
I hope Tanard or Madieu can do better but I'm not really counting on it. Atogwe is still a ballhawk _________________

I still don't get what happened with him here... Was our coaching that bad? Was it all him? I mean I know he did get injured for a while too...
But as far as OUR secondary is concerned I do like how coaches have been saying Williams has been playing very instinctively and getting around the ball. Hopefully that translates into alot of tackles when he plays and the other guys don't have to run around filling holes created by other players...
That is the only reason I can think of that Atogwe did so poorly here, unless he was just a bad fit in his role. But I am hoping he lost a step and by the time he figures out the eagles D he loses another and can't help them lol... _________________

Was reading about this this morning.
Came to the realization that if our WRs could chew him up in practice every day. Him going to a rival is less of a deal than if the stadium had lost that one beer vender that knows how to pass out beers without the cups being sticky. _________________

I'm pretty sure Chris Horton had 3 INTs since Sean's death.
It's been a weak position, though.
If Tanard can step up, I'll be pleased. _________________ Don't be afraid to turn the lights on...

To many negatives that "happened to him":
- Signed during the lockout so he couldn't, get acclimated with his new teammates, I'm pretty sure he knew some of the scheme from his days with Has in St.Louis.
- Got injured, and had to sit out most practices before the season started
- Started hanging out/working out with LaRon which probably led to his lower leg injuries
- Played injured most of his time here
But the big issue was just the CAP hit we took, if we didn't take that hit then he would still be on the team. He was one of the last guys in so you know the rule, last guy in has to be the first to go when it comes down to a number game.
I agree with others though Tanard Jackson can hit and he is a ball hawk in the prime of his career. If he stays healthy I believe he is a blessing in disguise. Definitely the best FS we have had since Sean. Hope he can stay healthy an return to form under Raheem. |

Thanks for the explanation brandonb2005.
I am with you guys seeing that TJackson is our most Talented S on the roster.
I just keep hearing coaches praising MWilliams instincts and play.
Makes me wonder is Jackson injured or not practicing because of the legal issues keeping him off the field?
Either way I am hoping that if Williams seems to be more comfortable, in position, and making plays, I'd rather see him start the year but hope the "more talented" Jackson catches on and gets alot of time later in the season. Like playing the guy with the "fundamental knowledge" who doesn't cost you big plays until the more athletic player can figure things out and get on the field...
Could be alot worse if they hadn't grabbed those two though.... _________________

Oh and DCRED, TJ missed practices because he was recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. _________________

Madieu is getting praise because he is the veteran out the group he probably is picking things up faster because he is smarter and more instinctive. He doesn't have the athletic ability of a Merriweather or Jackson, but he is just smarter/wiser at this point in his career. It's kind of like how Reed Doughty is smarter, but just doesn't have the athletic ability as the other S's he played with over the years. Jackson was just cleared to start practicing not to long ago(shoulder), so he is behind the 8ball a little. He has to get used to playing in a 3-4 and get used to the CB's in our secondary.
Its wishful thinking but I am hoping he is the starting FS and Merriweather is the starting SS when the season opens. |

I'm pretty sure they will have learned all they need to in 2.5 months and will at least start of the season as our starters. _________________

Starters: FS - Jackson SS- Merriweather
Back-ups: FS - M.Williams SS - Reed/Gomes
Parctice Squad: Bernstein (with the hopes of him being able to take over at SS one day, smh 4.3 speed and can hit! I hope Raheem can teach him the mental aspect. |
