fatpig's phat rankings (excluding the Steamers) with some semi-educated thoughts/ramblings.
1. bulldog/freaky - stacked team all around. potent offense, Brees would be deadly with those weapons and that protection. great veteran defense. RB corps is pretty weak other than Jackson but thats nitpicking.
2. mbtl/reggie - Eli is a playoff monster, he always gives the team a chance to win the superbowl. the Rookies benefitted from a drunken horny trade but thats OK. the weakest unit on the team is the LBs.
3. shoffma/FEAR - first impression when looking at their roster was SICK offensive line. give Ben that kind of time and good things will happen for that offense. excellent D line too, good depth all around, not a big fan of the secondary.
4. fte88/spectre - Rivers + awesome speedy WRs = success. lots of pass rush from the defense. JPP was a great pick, he's going to dominate this year. i hated the Champ Bailey pick though, he's on his way downhill.
5. nug/horny/dp - its a QB driven league and Brady is one of the best. i love the OL and WRs, DL is a glaring weakness IMO but its backed up by some monsters at LB. the Dawson pick won me over quite a bit.
6. buno/buno's unnamed partner - very lopsided team. i love the offense but kinda hate the defense. i think these team would be involved in many shootouts.
7. candy/cortes/malibu - love the Cutler/Schaub combo at QB. Cutler is due for a huge year imo and Schaub has a good chance to lead the Texans to the superbowl. Cutler on a team with good protection and Megatron/Desean as WRs would put up a ton of points. love the defense too, lots of pass rush behind Suh. this is a team that i expect to move up my rankings considerably after the season.
8.. braylon/f2e - surprisingly good team considering they made almost evrey pick late. not having a backup to Stafford is a huge knock on this team. they have big names at every position though. overall good.
9. reginald/marky - if not for Ryan/Locker at QB i would have this team ranked atleast top 3. you guys took so many guys i was about to pick. really i can't argue with any picks other than waiting so long for a QB. Ryan just isn't any good in the playoffs and Locker is unproven. Antonio Brown was a huge pick, i'm surprised he lasted that long. awesome defense.
10. roger/FLA - not a fan of Romo, or Vick really. the Gronk/Graham picks in the first two rounds were interesting but just not a formula to win imo. very good defense, they would generate alot of sacks.
11. pmk/boca - simply put i think Peyton will fail in denver. excellent defense though nearly impossible to run against. sucks that i have to rank this team last as every team is very good in its own right. but someone's gotta come in last. sry dudes.
NOTE - i did not taking coaching staff into account because honestly i don't know much about coaching and schemes. also i overlooked STs because a punter is a punter. or so i thought when i drafted Sepulveda _________________

I didn't consider anyone else's rankings, and I guess my rankings show that.... I simply rated each position group, with a weight for importance. I tried to be as objective as possible and ran the numbers. Here's how they came out:
1. reginaldm9/marky
I'm not a huge fan of Matt Ryan, but I love the rest of this team. Those LB's are amazing, and in a 3-4, that's what butters the bread. Give Romeo talent like that, and he could do some great things with this D. Again, Matt Ryan is not my favorite, but the surrounding cast on offense would help the cause.
2. nug/hornby/dp8017
Tom Brady is an all-time great, imo, and he had perhaps his best year last year. With those skill positions, OL, and McDaniels calling the plays, that offense would be a force. Defensively, it's a little bit muddled, but I do like the 3-4 alignment for this group, and the depth is very nice. 2 great coordinators and Jim Harbaugh is hot right now.
3. Boca/pmk
Not sure why people had this team so low. I guess it's because of Peyton, and he's a risk, but he's worth the risk, imo. While the WR's don't jump off the page, as a group, they mesh nicely. Trent Williams is a question mark, but they covered it nicely by taking Vollmer as a backup plan. I love the D-line, and so would LeBeau. Belichick could take this team places.
4. bulldog/fgk
Perhaps the most well-balanced team in the whole thing. I don't see any glaring weaknesses. My least favorite group is probably RB. With only 12 teams, you should be able to do better than Fred Jackson and Law Firm. Not necessarily spectacular in any one area, but a team that would be very tough to beat.
5. shoffma/FEAR
Big Ben... I try to be objective, and I still think he's overrated. But there is plenty else to like on this team. The O-line and defensive front 7 are both excellent. Biggest weakness is WR/TE. Reggie Wayne is over the hill, Percy Harvin has decided to cause trouble, and Fred Davis and Eric Decker are meh. Lots of strengths, but the weaknesses knock this team down a couple pegs.
6. Spectre/fte88
Another team that is very well balanced. I think Philip Rivers will bounce back this year, and he would have some nice weapons to throw to on this team. I'm not a huge fan of the defensive backs on this team, but they may be fine. Champ and Adrian Wilson are old, but hopefully, for Spectre and fte88, they can have one more good year. They did a nice job drafting depth on this team.
7. buno/CB07
Probably the best combo of QB and coaches in the whole thing. A-Rod, McCarthy, and Philbin are obviously good fits, and Lovie Smith's scheme would fit well with this personnel. A few problems, though, knocked this team down. Not having a viable backup for Gore was a mistake. The safeties are young, and they have no backups. And finally, you have no long snapper.
8. roger/FLA
I'm surprised this team ended this low because I like it at first glance. Romo takes a lot of heat, but I like him. Vick was a steal as a backup. I also like the skill positions. Those WR/TE/RB's would give opposing defenses fits. This team falls a bit on the defensive side. The front 7 is good, but there are several teams who are great. Your defensive backfield is loaded with talent. Kudos for that. Perhaps my biggest gripe: the coaches. Dante Scarnecchia isn't even the OC for New England (McDaniels is). But that not withstanding, he's a terrible match with Andy Reid. They are polar opposites scheme-wise.
9. malibu/candy/cortes
I thought this team would be higher, as well. First off, I'm not a Cutler fan. He's just too much of a bonehead for my taste. Schaub might be better suited to start, but I don't know. The other skill positions are excellent, though. One of the best combos of WR/TE/RB in the whole thing. Perry Fewell needs a great D-line, and while yours is good, it's not as good as it could have been. Avril at RDE is a bit disappointing. I don't see too many glaring weaknesses, but just nothing outstanding.
10. Braylon/f2e
Matt Stafford was well worth the pick, but not having a backup for him is insanity. You took AP way too early, imo, and with Forte as your backup, you have a potential holdout/injury risk backing up an injury risk. I love your collective group of WR/TE's. Defensively, your D-line is a question mark. Mebane as a 3-4 NT could spell trouble. Most of your starters look fine, but your depth is pretty weak. Your coaching staff is underwhelming.
11. fatpig/lesser
I was disappointed to see pig in the final spot. He said it earlier, and he's right, if Cam builds on last year, this team will be for real. Plenty of strengths (D-line, RB, OT, OG, CB), but also some weaknesses (Center, OLB: you need more speed, S). You didn't draft a long snapper, which is a mistake. Juan Castillo at DC is a bad choice. He was less than stellar in his first year as DC in Philly. Sepulveda may never play again. A few other guys are currently street free agents. _________________ Cleveland Browns: We put the fun in dysfunction.

I didn't want to write a book for each team, especially since the activity level in this thread is less than I had hoped.
But that being said, if any team wants more detail or feedback on their team, I would be happy to give it. _________________ Cleveland Browns: We put the fun in dysfunction.

Well, FGK, we've finish in at least the top half of everyone rankings so far. Thats a good sign.
And to address Reggie's remarks about our RB's, I agree. Its our weakest group. However, we feel that Fred Jackson healthy for a year and what they've done on defense will give him more opportunity to run the ball. BJGE was my pick, I think he fits what Cinci does like a glove. As a Brown's fan, I hate to say it, but I think he'll have a great year this year. Our very last pick was Isaac Redman, who will probably get the bulk of the snaps this year for Pittsburgh with Mendenhall's injury. |

I'll do a write up later, I just spent to much time on my other thread. The lady is going out tonight, so I'll have a bunch of time |

Interesting.
When you weighted the position groups, how did you do so?
Because, I (as I stated) heavily weighted the QB and the O and D line. Seemingly you don't? For comparison (better player is bolded):
QB: Matt Ryan / Ben Roethlisberger
LT: D'Brickashaw Ferguson / Joe Thomas
LG: David Diehl / Evan Mathis
C: Nick Mangold / Eric Wood
RG: Davin Joseph / Harvey Dahl
RT: Doug Free / Bryan Bulaga
DE: Pernell McPhee / Calais Campbell
NT: Jay Ratliff / Sione Pouha
DE: Darnell Dockett / Justin Smith |

QB is weighted the most.
Pass rush is 2nd (DL for 4-3 teams, LB for 3-4 teams)
WR/TE are grouped as one, and they have the next heaviest.
OL has the same weight as WR/TE for me.
Next comes CB and either LB/DL (whichever one isn't the pass rush)
Then comes safety and RB, with ST's and coaches tied for last.
And for what it's worth, I'd rate Harvey Dahl over Davin Joseph, as well as Doug Free over Bryan Bulaga. Pouha and Ratliff are pretty even, although they're very different players. _________________ Cleveland Browns: We put the fun in dysfunction.
