At only age 32, Tomlinson joins a long list of NFL legends who retire this off-season.

The 5 time Pro-Bowler and 4 time All-Pro was drafted by the Chargers 5th overall in the 2001 draft, he went on to rush for 13,684 yards and 162 total TDs in his 12-year career.

However his career is also mostly known for failure at playoffs time as he often didn't play well in the post-season.

Last season his average per carry was only 3.7.

Even though I didn't want him back, I am now very sad.

Yeah its tough to see a great guy like him retire. To be honest, I'm just happy he didn't sign with the pats.

he can still play. i just wouldnt want him rushing the ball. hes great in pass protection still, and a very damn good receiver.

His best qualities last year were his blitz pick up and receiving skills, but you could see his running was below average. He showed some flashes, but unfortunately he just wasn't the same RB as he was in SD, which is understandable considering his age and the amount of touches he had. A terrific player and definitely one of the best at his position, I'm glad we got to experience him for 2 seasons.
