I'm not surprised by it but I sure think it is wrong. May not effect him any but I'm sure as a player you like the fans to be with you.

you have to give the guy credit, i figured it would take between 16 and 24 games for Kolb to convince the fans here that he is a joke...he did it in only 8 Shocked

thats impressive...I think he overachieved.

a part of me agrees with you guys. I can say for sure that I myself, would not have boo'ed him. But, this is the NFL. He needs to silence his critics with his on field play, and nothing else.

But this stems from what I tend to really dislike about the casual fan. Kolb actually performed better in terms of quarterback stats in 2011 than Skelton did. Skelton had the benefit of the defense finally clicking and helping them win games and Kolb did not. But becasue the team won with Skelton the casual fan feels he is the better QB and ignores all the peripherals. It is how Tim Tebow suddenly became viewed as a top QB. I blame ESPN.

I do not know if having Kolb vs Skelton in there late in the season would have changed many results because the fact remains Skelton was far better than Kolb in the fourth quarter and there were times, such as the Cincinnati Game that despite a great effort by the defense without Skeltons fourth quarter that game finishes in a 14+ point loss. (The flip side of this is whether or not Kolb would have had us closer after three quarters)

Personally the one game that has me really sour on Kolb is the Minnesota game. He basically spotted the Vikings 21 points in the first quarter.

"He needs to silence his critics"

So does roughly 33% of our starting lineup. I didn't hear boos for those players...

Could agree more on the statement that this is wrong. Like I said the pursuit of Manning/failure to get Manning would cause fans to take it out on him. He needs to prove himself but the "fair weather" fans of AZ need to give him a chance.

Really messed up and it makes me want to see him exceed even more. Luckily Whiz is not interested fan perceptions only results, otherwise Leinart would have started at QB.

I think the fact that there is even a competition here is why fans are getting upset. we traded for Kolb with a win now mentality, and we missed the playoffs. I think just about everybody agrees with the idea that if our defense was playing at an elite level in the first half of the year, Kolb would have won more games. But that does not excuse his below average play.

sure, the casual fan see's Skelton's 6-2 record last year and assumes he is better than the 2-6 Kolb. And if that is all they are basing it off of then sure, that is a bit foolish. But you yourself even said that you are hoping to see Skelton beat out Kolb for the job based on his potential. with Kolb we have a five year veteran who has shown some flashes of excellence, but overall not much. with Skelton we have a guy going into his third season, who has shown just as much promise at this point. and then when you look at what we gave up, it's easy to see why the fans perfer Skelton...it's not just the casual fans, its all of us.

none of the other players are playing the most important position of the game. Kolb is right in the middle of the spotlight, and he needs to be able to deal with that.

I think the casual fan does see that 6-2 record but does not see Skelton struggle in the first 3 quarters of those games. I am not sure who I favor at this time, but if you call taking a try at Manning a lack of faith in Kolb, what does that say about the faith in Skelton.

Finally I hate the idea of the trade for Kolb as a "win now" move. The reason I was against the move was because I didn't see it, how could a guy come in with learn a new system with a limited TC and no OTAs or minicamp and be excepted to "win now". And you can convince me that is what Whiz and Rod were thinking when they made the trade.

Give the guy a break. It's not like he didn't go out there and do the best he could. It really irks me that the Cardinals fans would boo him. He is trying and must be doing something right behind closed doors considering they paid him 7 million and didn't just cut ties with him.

The clear cut truth is like what love2theoline said. Obviously, if you want to say that the Cards had no faith in Kolb which is why they went after Manning, well hell, you gotta say that about Skelton too.

If Manning came here, the only thing that saves Skelton is his low salary. Kolb was brought in with the obviously mentiality that he would be the starter and win games, but I kept trying to tell people to temper expectations because he was coming in during the shortened off-season. This year will truly be a make or break season for him. But like #1cardsfan said, the FO must have seen something and STILL see something for them to be comfortable with paying him 7+ million this season after last seasons outing.

There should be no boos during training camp. But honestly, this is what I expect from the majority of Cardinal fans.. most of them don't know squat about football or the team except that we were in the SuperBowl in 2009. I wonder when they became fans of the team.....

Peyton Manning is a Hall of Fame QB. Thats why we went after him. He's better than Kolb and Skelton and would've been a good mentor towards Skelton. Not because we have no faith in them

That's a weak excuse to me shawn. Because he's a quarterback he has to take undo bs from what fair weather fans who watch 3-4 games and think they know the sport? No, he doesn't. As far as how he's dealing with it, well, he's dealing with it like a man. He never bashed the fans who so ridiculously tossed those negative chants his way, he never put down the city of Glendale or the surrounding areas and he never deflected blame to anyone else. He never disagree with them either. He said point blank, he needs to play better. He's dealing with it better than most anyone would, myself included. If somebody booed me in that type of fashion in that type of setting (Which was Fan Fest, by the way...), I'd have their heads on my wall. Luckily, Kevin's a little classier guy than I am.

Texted my buddy about it, sounded like most of the crowd throwing the boos were younger kids, high school and college.
