Are there any hardcore Steelers fans on here who are also big Madden fans.. ive spent many years trying to replicate Lebeau's zone blitz scheme and was wondering if anyone else has had any success with 4 or 5 man zone blitzes

Huge Steeler fan, but at this point I borderline despise Madden. Not even so much that its a terrible game....just the fact that EA doesnt have a clue and uses their monopoly over NFL gaming to do whatever they want.

Madden isnt realistic enough to run LeBeau's defense, since the morons at EA essentially make every single defense feel the same. The Steelers D is not even close to what it is in real life, and it essentially feels the same as every other D in the game.

Not trying to make this a Madden rant, but I just get sick of how poorly represented certain elements of football and teams are in the game.

I agree, but our D will work better next year, because they're supposed to fix the OL/DL interactions. For now, I love the new sub packages they put in the game. The best part for them is to mix them up, disguise them, and hope you get to the QB because a lot of them are high risk-reward.

I stopped playing when SWAGGER was an attribute. It's a boy's game now.

That was under a different team and is not there anymore.

And swagger was just a confidence type attribute and had no real effect on the game. There are many reasons not to like or play Madden, but I dont get that one.

Just shared an opinion. You don't have to get it or agree with it. That addition made me realize I'd out grown Madden. When more effort is put into stupid fads than fixing glitches it "Jumped the Shark" in my opinion.

Huge Steeler fan, huge Madden fan. I just blitz nearly every down so I am always in man coverage pretty much.

Fair enough.

Only reason I questioned it was because it really had no impact on the game. But I do agree they spend way too much time on gimmicks instead of improving the actual game.

The swagger attribute was supposed to be the percentage of time that the player would celebrate on the way to the endzone. Like if Deion Sanders was in the game, he'd have 100 swagger lol.

I thought it was a silly addition to the game.

As for the original poster, I've had some success running zone blitz schemes in madden, and when you use certain alignments, like the 1-5-5, players do move around before the snap like they would in real life, the only problem is that the offensive linemen know exactly who will blitz and where they will blitz regardless because of how poor the programming is in the games.

2k5 is the only football game I've seen that didn't have this problem, but it doesn't have many zone blitz plays.

Well, I believe I heard it was something they threw in quick due to some promotion of Old Spice, but that it didnt take long to put in and that they could never get it to do exactly what they wanted anyway.

It obviously added nothing....I just questioned why it made him quit Madden over the tons of other things that were wrong with the game. But I understood the gimmicky stuff

If you want a true sim pick up All Pro 2k8 from Amazon for around $8. Graphics are better than I remember. Here's a link to a guy that if you have the 360 can get 2012 NFL Season rosters. From them, you can only play as 8 eights, depending upon roster you choose, he has Steelers right now as a 4-3 and a roster is missing some backups. Other than that though, it's much more sim, where penalties work correctly, footwork is better. Be aware, that they call Polamalu like "Tim Polamalu" or something, because it really was a game for NFL legends. If you can deal with a few nuances, it's totally worth $8.
