Fishing is a huge hobby of mine (bigger than watching football) and I just realized I don't think I've seen a fishing thread on FF.

Up here in Washington, fishing season is just getting underway, I've been getting out about 3-4 times a week, and that will go up once school's done and I get back to working.

Who else on FF fishes? Where? What do you fish for? Any fishing stories?

I love to fish freshwater lakes and rivers. I have a place I go near my house that charges $7 to fish there but they stock the lake with Bass Catfish and Carp along with some others. Going to hit up some of these state parks near Atlanta in the coming weeks.

I'm assuming you're fishing for bass? I wish the bass up here got bigger. probably 85% of our fish are under 2 lbs.

Even the largemouth up here are small. Biggest bass I've seen caught, not that I've personally caught, up here was about 3.5 lbs.

I am a huge freshwater fisherman. Just last weekend i was up in the Sierra's fishing for bass. Caught a few keepers.

I have dabbled with deep sea fishing, surf fishing, stream/river, fly fishing, spear fishing, ice fishing, basically you name it i have probably done it!

Same here. My fishing is about 40% trout in streams, 40% bass, and 20% everything else. I fish the surf for perch from time to time, those things are a blast to catch. Last summer I went deep sea fishing and came home with 15 rock fish and 2 lings, that was a ton of fun.

Not too much into salmon/steelhead fishing. Too much time, too much money, and too much "combat" fishing. I go fishing to relieve stress, not make it worse.

I dont mind "combat" fishing as you put it. Sometimes its a thrill. I pulled some nasty catfish out of the Mississippi River, back when i lived in Minnesota.

My favorite though is lake fishing, on a boat, relaxing.

What's combat fishing where you live? Over here, when the salmon are running, you can't go down to the river without seeing a fight, or someone throwing someones net into the river or something like that. Last year one guy took a tacklebox full of lures and tossed it in the water, it was probably $500 worth of gear. That turned into a huge brawl and cops got called out.

Something about the salmon run and being shoulder to shoulder on the bank makes people crazy. Most of it is the city guys coming in from Portland and Vancouver.

If your name isn't Jeremy Wade, you aren't fishing right. Wink

Deep sea fishing is a blast. I enjoy a nice day of lake fishing, throwing down brews and waiting for a bite all day with the boys. Deep sea fishing is just nuts though, this guy I go with once in a blue moon down in the Keys knows the best spots. The second you throw in the line you're hauling in a 60 pound beast, its intense
