Welcome to the first Full 2013 Offseason Mock of the year. In this mock, we will be doing Free Agency and the draft. Jch1911 and I will be Co-running this mock.
Since it is really early and the actual 2013 cap numbers will be way too complex to figure out right now here is how we are going to work the salary cap situation. We are going to go by everyone’s 2012 salary and each team will get 10 million tacked on to whatever salary cap number they currently have in 2012. (ex. Eagles currently have 12.3 million is salary cap space, so in this mock they are going to start with 22.3 million in cap space.)
Here are the rules:
1) No restricted Free Agency. If a Free Agent is restricted, then they are staying with their original team.
2) No resigning players before Free Agency. However, you can use your Franchise Tag. If you want one of your players back you have to bid on him with everyone else.
3) Free Agents will go on the market by position. The Free Agents for each position will become available at noon and whatever team has bid the highest by noon the next day will win their services.
4) You must keep track of your own salary cap and stay under the cap at all times. If a contract you offer forces you to go over the cap, you will lose that player and that player will go to the next highest bidder. Bids must be in 250K intervals.
5) You can have up to 65 players going into the draft, but you must be down to 53 and a 7 player practice squad after the draft.
6) Once you choose a team post their depth chart and then you can use this forum to announce cuts. Any player you cut, your cap gains their base salary but loses their signing bonus money.
7) Your depth chart should be posted without your teams current free agents. So please check your depth chart against the free agent list posted in the other forum.
8) Draft order will be based off of ESPN Post Draft Power Rankings
Team Cap numbers are listed below. The Free Agent list will be posted in the Depth Chart forum. If you see a player missing from the free agent list or a player that should not be on that free agent list let me know before free agency begins.

I think the salary cap method is flawed. You're using our current 2012 numbers, but have you subtracted the players that are free agents in 2013? I feel like some of these numbers should be higher. No one having over 30 million in cap space seems unrealistic. _________________

I agree. I calculated the Texans' probable cap space for next year and the Texans would only have about $99M in contracts. So if the salary cap stayed flat at around $120M, the Texans would have almost $21 in space (minus $5 - $6M for rookie signings), |

I'll do the Bengals numbers when I get home tonight, but we have a lot of free agents on nice contracts (Smith, Clements, etc) and 29 million seems awful low). _________________

Bengals cut the following players
Tyler Hansen, QB
James Develin, RB
Aaron Brown, RB
Rodney Stewart, RB
Jourdan Brooks, RB
Justin Hilton, WR
Taveon Rodgers, WR
Vidal Hazleton, WR
Kashif Moore, WR
Otis Hudson, G
Matt O'Donnell, T
Vaughn Meatoga, DT
Nick Hayden, DT
Grant Hunter, LB
Emmanuel Lamur, LB
Brandon Joiner, WLB
Vincent Rey, SLB
Micah Johnson, SLB
Tony Dye, CB
All of these players are either RFAs in 2013 or were on one year rookie contracts in 2012, therefor I gain no cap space by cutting any of them. Bengals cap space should be ~41 million, not 29 million, if I did my calculations right. _________________

Agreed. There will never be a representative for the Ravens under these rules because they mean that Ray Rice, Joe Flacco and Ed Reed (among others) are made free agents without giving the team the cap space that not having them creates. It basically double penalises any team that wants to sign FAs _________________
