Trying to get a head start on next year.. Based on pass rushing/run stopping capabilities, who are the best overall DE's(preferably right end) in the 2013 NFL Draft? Who goes first?

This class is stacked with them...

The obvious guys are...

Sam Montgomery
Barkevious Mingo (though he's got some growin to do if he's gonna be a DE)
Alex Okafor
Devin Taylor
Jackson Jeffcoat (See note on Mingo)
Conelius Carradine (I see a JPP like year this year. Kids gonna be a stud, similarly athletic)
William Gholston (Though i'm not convinced he isn't all hype, i need to see more games of him)
Bjorne Werner (may be a LE or RE i'm not sure)
Dion Jordan (May be a stretch to be a RE, but he has the frame for it, it'll take some work for him to get big enough for it though)

All players could push the 1st round.

Brandon Jenkins FSU and John Simon of tOSU might be worthy additions to be on the watch list also

I've been notorious for hating Jenkins. I think Jenkins shouldn't be drafted before the 4th round. He just isn't any good IMO, there's nothing that makes him a good NFL player....
And JPP wasn't that well known befor he blew up 1 year at South Florida. Point being One season can make or break a prospect.

But Jenkins IS well known, he already broke out 2 seasons ago. And i've watched a LOT of games from him, this year and last.

There is no comparison between the two. JPP is a freakish athlete, with LONG arms, but was insanely raw. Jenkins is a guy who got a lot of sacks his Soph year, and just isn't that athletic, his handwork is non existent, doesn't have anything more than adequate burst off the line, and doesn't have more than 1 or 2 decent moves, and even those aren't great.

The biggest difference was that JPP was a top JUCO prospect, who was just in his first year playing D1. Jenkins has been in college all 4 years, and has produced only 1 year, and just plain and simple doesn't translate to anything good in the NFL.

Extremely simlar to George Selvie (though Selvie was better his Soph year) as a prospect. Can produce but really isn't anything that stands out in his game that says, "wow this kid is going to be good". He's an all around mediocre prospect in the NFL.

Can he completely turn it around this year? Yeah any prospect can. But i dont see him as a guy that i would even look at in the top 3-4 rounds if he continues playing the same way he did last year or even 2 years ago.

my entire post duffman was not to compare JPP and Jenkens vs a vs. But to point out that he can make a turn around this year and bears watching.

True. But JPP only had one year in college.

Things can change this year, but what i'm saying is that he's got problems that he cant fix in a year. In order for him TO become what some people think he is, he's going to have to do a LOT of work this year, including getting better burst, and completely fix his handwork and get to a good playing weight. Like i said, the's AT BEST a mid round pick right now in my book, to jump from there to a 1st rounder is not likely...lol

Jenkins was playing a bigger weight than he was used to last year due to instruction by the coaching staff. Jenkins may have not had the number last year but he definately played at the level he did his sophmore year. I can say a good bit of Werners success last year was due to most passing plays the blocking was focused on Jenkins. I wont even go into the constant holding never called. Go watch the game tape against Clemson and Oklahoma. Both games Jenkins was being held constantly.
There was alot of people saying he would have left early last year just to get away from all the non call holding.
