Yeah, I saw that. Says he wants to sign two other guys, though. I have a feeling he doesn't care much about the draft picks if he can get a guy or two he wants.

Yeah, it seems like they're not too worried about the pick. Though I wouldn't be too thrilled if we gave up that pick for Swisher. If we're going to spend significant money on someone other than Hamilton, I hope it's Greinke. At least with him, we don't have to give up the pick.
If we aren't serious about Hamilton, I think the best way to utilize the payroll space would be:
Jackson + Napoli + trade for OF

Agreed. I would really like to have Edwin Jackson in our rotation. I wanted him last year, too.
Doubt we sign Napoli, though. Jaso still has three years, Zunino will most likely come up this year, and then you have Montero mixing in at catcher ever so often and locking up the DH spot other than that. Unless they move him to 1B, but that depends on Smoak sucking again.
Greinke would also be nice. Locking him up to a nice deal and then extending Felix would give us some nice trade opportunities with our young pitching.

If we signed Napoli I would expect him to play 1B/DH most of the time. He can be in the mix at C until Zunino is ready.
I wouldn't go into ST with Smoak penciled in the 25 man roster as well. Make him force the team to put him on the roster due to his performance. Otherwise he can get used to playing in Tacoma for the foreseeable future.
1. 2B Ackley
2. CF Gutierrez
3. RF (Trade)
4. 1B Napoli
5. C Jaso
6. DH Montero
7. 3B Seager
8. LF Saunders
9. SS Ryan
Depending on who we can add through a trade, that's a decent lineup. If we can add a good 1B/DH via trade, I'd be more open to Swisher.

Basically, traded trash for trash.
Hopefully Figgins is gone now.

FIGGINS DFA'd!!!!!! Rejoice!
Scott Cousins gone too.
Brandon Maurer, Anthony Fernandez, Vinnie Catricala, Bobby LaFromboise, and Julio Morban added to 40 man.
Good choices, IMO. Wouldn't want to lose any of them. Maurer and Catricala were givens, wasn't sure what they'd do about the rest, though.

About half a year too late on Figgins. About time...
Surprised they added Morban. Even with him being as talented as he is, he's never been above A+. I doubt a team would have kept him on their 25 man roster.

Yeah, that one was slightly surprising. I thought they may choose Carraway instead.

Also, I was catching up on some of Jason Churchill's stuff.
I like his idea of trading Ryan and Gutti and just letting Franklin take over at SS and Saunders in CF. With the fences coming in, Gutti's defensively value is slightly less since Saunders can now cover the ground better.

Saunders value is much higher in center, and adding bats at both corner spots may be the best way to improve the roster.

Yeah, hopefully that happens, because I don't want them depending on Gutti. Dude is a walking injury.
Trade Gutti and Ryan, put Nick at SS, trade for Gordon, and sign Nick Swisher.
