Keep talking about the farm system and a few years down the road, then. _________________

Or, we could just look at the MLB team as of right now. I never said we'd be competing or even close to competing for anything. Just that the offense could/should be decent.
That's unless you expect no improvement from Ackley, Montero, Seager, Saunders, Kendrys > Smoak, and Morse > Peguero, Thames, Wells, and Liddi.
All of that mixed in with the park dimensions being drastically improved. It's not that far-fetched. _________________

| Quote: | FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Mariners continue to talk to Felix Hernandez about a contract extension and are "at least weighing" a four-year, $100 million offer.
It's not known whether the Mariners have actually made such an offer, as one source described the two sides as "dancing" but not deeply engaged. Hernandez is under contract for two more years for a total of $39.5 million, so if the reported figure is accurate, the total outlay would be $139.5 million over six seasons. This would be in the neighborhood of recent contracts given to Zack Greinke ($147 million) and Cole Hamels ($144 million), so such an offer would serve as a solid starting point in negotiations. |
If Felix would take 4/100 on top of what he has left, I'd do that in an instant if I were Jack. I'd definitely go to a 5th year, and consider a 6th. _________________

This will show how loyal he is because if he waits 2 years he could probably get a greater deal. _________________

Been hearing this for years. |
And? |
It won't be correct once again. |
Very possible. Sorry for trying to look at the positives. |

| Went to fanfest today, it was really cool to see the out field renovations and the new jumbo screen going up in center field. Listened several speakers today (Romero, Paxton, Iwakuma, Capps, Ryan, Jack Z, Rizz, and Aaron Goldsmith the new broadcaster) Brendan Ryan is hilarious, making people laugh left and right. |

Ackley
Saunders
Seager
Morales
Morse
Montero
Smoak
Gutierrez
Ryan/Franklin
Would like to add Bourn and have Ack bat 2nd and push Saunders down. But that is a pretty solid lineup. If Morales can't hit around .300 ad ackley, seager, montero and smoak continue to grow I don't see how it wont be at least an middle of the pack order. And then solid guys lke Ibanez and Bay can start too. Hopefully Zunino has a strong camp and gets the back up catcher spot. He can really hit _________________

Don't want to give up a first round pick for Bourn. He's a good CF, but that's a hefty price for a slap hitting/speed orientated player. Especially considering he's already 30 years old, and the way that profile ages.
vs RHP
2B Dustin Ackley
RF Michael Saunders
1B Kendrys Morales
LF Michael Morse
3B Kyle Seager
C Jesus Montero
DH Raul Ibanez
CF Franklin Gutierrez
SS Brendan Ryan
vs LHP
2B Dustin Ackley
CF Franklin Gutierrez
1B Michael Morse
DH Kendrys Morales
C Jesus Montero
3B Kyle Seager
LF Casper Wells
RF Michael Saunders
SS Brendan Ryan
That's the best combo of offense/defense I think this team can field. Smoak loses out, and ends up in Tacoma. (or trade him for a guy like Matusz) Bay is cut. _________________

| Quote: | ESPN's Jason Churchill reports that the Mariners are "making significant progress" in contract talks with free agent Kelly Shoppach.
The Mariners traded John Jaso to Oakland earlier this month, and could look to bring in Shoppach as depth behind Jesus Montero, as the 32-year-old has a history with manager Eric Wedge. If signed, Shoppach would serve as Seattle's backup catcher and likely push Ronny Paulino into an organizational depth role. |

Good. If we sign him that's a good signing. He will make a nice stop gap until June or possibly next year for Zunino. _________________

MLB.com prospect rankings:
Taijuan Walker - 5
Danny Hultzen - 18
Mike Zunino - 23
Nick Franklin - 47
James Paxton - 61
We also signed Kelly Shoppach. Our payroll is still below 80 million, with 24 of our 25 man roster filled. Guessing we'll go over 80 with a free agent pitcher. _________________

Keith Law ranked our farm system 8th in baseball. lulz
At the very worst we're 5th IMO. He had the Cards, Twins, Rays, Astros, Cubs, Padres, & Pirates ahead. _________________
