| Quote: | Texans agreed to terms with RB Justin Forsett, formerly of the Seahawks.
Forsett broke the news on his Twitter account. A seventh-round pick in 2008, Forsett appeared in all 48 games for the Seahawks the past three seasons, carrying the ball 278 times for 1,287 yards. He was more valuable as a pass catcher, notching 97 catches for 730 yards. A much different back than the man he'll be replacing as Houston's third-string runner, Derrick Ward, Forsett figures to see the large majority of his snaps on passing downs. Of course, barring injury to Arian Foster or Ben Tate, he'll see very few snaps in general. |
I'm hoping Meggett beats him out, but it is a good pickup it makes sense. _________________

You got a good third down back who works hard, is a great receiver out of the back field, can pass protect and is vey familiar with the zbs. One of the most purely elusive players in the league
His weaknesses are his size, strength and speed in the open field, which have prevented him from being a starter in this league
He will be missed by Seattle fans _________________

I'm starting to think Ward is going to retire. At least that's what I am getting from what he be saying on twitter. He obviously wants to have a much bigger role on a team than 3rd string RB so that's probably the reason why we havent resigned him yet. I like the Forsett pickup. He is a good receiver out the backfield and he knows the ZBS system. _________________

I like the signing. Solid depth and gives us another veteran. I think he makes the team. Good pickup. _________________

I like it. Pretty much exactly what you are looking for in a #3. Ward was probably better in a situation where he had to start him due to injury and hand it to him 25 times, but I think Forsett will be able to contribute more out of the #3 spot with occasional use as a receiver and special teams. Ward was a great influence on Foster, but Foster is a veteran in his own right now and doesn't need a mentor. If both Foster and Tate get hurt we will need to make a move for a workhorse back anyway, so I like the idea of having depth that can contribute in other ways. Ward contributed little last year even with Foster and Tate injured at various points. Good guy, time to move on though. _________________
