Now the draft season has eclipsed, it's time to rank all 32 teams in the form of consensus polling. Vote for the team, you think deserves to be called the number 22 team heading into the 2012 season. The criteria is really open ended depending how you rank it's importance (success last year, current strength of roster, ease of schedule 2012, strength of division etc). Would appreciate no homerism or trolling please.

I think the Broncos and Bengals are on par with the teams listed 6-9... just saying. Anxious I didn't participate in the other polls but those are two teams I think are going to have great seasons and possibly contend for the AFC Championship.

As for where we're at I go with the Cardinals because their improving defense is probably on par with or better than the rest of the field at this point and their offense I expect to improve. Plus I like Ken Wisenhunt as a head coach.

Can I get outside opinions on the Raiders, and why apparently they'll suck?

Just off the top of my head, some of the reasons people could have.

What are they getting from the QB position?
What is McFadden going to bring/Will he stay on the field?
Is their back 7 good enough to play well in a pass heavy league?
Who is going to catch the ball in Oakland?
How is the defense going to play in 2012?
Can the offense sustain it's point output?

Just off the top of my head, some of the reasons people could have.

What are they getting from the QB position? Inconsistency.
What is McFadden going to bring/Will he stay on the field? Not with Michael Bush gone.
Is their back 7 good enough to play well in a pass heavy league? No.
Who is going to catch the ball in Oakland? Jacob Ford and Denarius Moore... not bad.
How is the defense going to play in 2012? Subpar
Can the offense sustain it's point output? Yeah but I still dont think theyll win more than 1 or 2 shootout type games.
I see the Raiders being quite disappointing actually.

I just see Oakland as a big unknown. They have the talent to put something together - but they're very hard to analyse.

New regime, new coaching set-up, lots of dynamic players who have flashed ability - but not been able to put it down on a regular basis, either through flaky form or injury. The defense doesn't look particularly great on paper and that could be an area of weakness.

This is fair, and I can agree with it. The Defense is definitely the biggest concern, particularly the corner backs, I think Ron Bartell and Shawntae Spencer is an upgrade over what we had last year, however, like with a lot of guys that we have, the question is will they stay healthy?

Bresnahan being gone and having an actual defensive scheme will also do wonders for the defense, because unlike before, it won't be as vanilla and predictable.

The Defensive Line still is ONE of the best in football with Houston, Shaugnessy, Kelly, Seymour, Bryant and Tollefson. While we lost Wimbley, we picked up a much more complete LB in Philip Wheeler, he's better in coverage and although he was never asked to do so, can rush the passer pretty well. Aaron Curry was very solid for us last year, plays with a mean streak and still has potential. McClain apparently has slimmed down and is looking faster than the first 2 years. The multiple looks and the 3-4 looks should really help him as well. He has to step up, but he's got the mental part down. The depth at all spots improved as well.

The offensive line really has no holes. Veldheer and Wisnewski can are pro bowl type players, Brisiel comes over from Houston and Barnes is a pretty good run blocker, however he may get beat out by the second year guy Barksdale from lsu.

Everyone's got their opinion on Palmer but let be just say, he's rejuvenated mentally and physically, he's working harder than he ever has and really wants to be great, last year, despite the first game or two that he struggled he had some great games down the stretch, and with a full off season, a healthy McFadden he should have at least a top 12 type season IMO. The running game should be a strength if McFadden stays healthy with him, Goodson, Marcel Reece and Taiwan Jones.

Ans Idk who said the Raiders have no weapons, Heyward Bey, Ford and Denarius Moore is a pretty good, up and coming trio of receivers. Add in rookie Juron Criner who is having a sensational Off season, Marcel Reece, McFadden, and our TE's (Myers and Ausberry) and that seems like a good amount of weapons to me.

Then of course we also have the best Kicker, Punter and Long Snapper in the league, also helps Razz

I voted Cardinals btw.

toss-up between the bucs and the cardinals for me.....i went AZ

Better defense, and a passing offense that can only go up. They are actually getting underrated a bit here

Jon Dorenbos begs to differ.

The three of them combined for 116 catches, 1872 yards and 10 TD's in 2011. I know Ford missed time, but that trio is one of the weaker trio's in the NFL in terms of their output.

McFadden is a weapon if he can stay on the field and right now that is a pretty big if. Michael Bush is gone now too, if McFadden goes down are you happy with Taiwan Jones running the ball as the #1 back ,or are you going with Marcel Reece here?

Ausbery and Myers combined for 18 catches and 165 yards.

The Raiders offense lacks any kind of consistent weapon in the passing game, they are young with Moore, DHB and Ford as well as being really explosive, but I would be really worried about that unit if I was a Raider fan. It is a unit that could hold back the production of the offense if they do not play well.

Put it this way; the 2011 Raiders were 8-8 in 2011, they have lost their best edge rusher and replaced him with a player who was barely a starter on the 2011 Colts and he was the 3rd best performed member of that group. He is not someone who should be starting in the NFL, he is a ST'er who can give you some depth if you really need it.

He has 2 pass deflection's in 61 games including 1 in his past 17 starts. HE has 1 FF and 2 sacks in his career.

Wheeler is a MASSIVE downgrade from Wimbley. He is as good in coverage, far inferior against the run and not even close to the pass rushing ability as Wimbley.

The defensive line has no proven edge rush, Houston started 12 games for 1 sack, Shaunessey was lost early in the year and will help, but edge rush is really all he provides. Kelly and Seyomur are one of the best interior pass rush duos in the league, but they are also a large part of why the Raiders allowed 5.1 YPC vs the run last season. Tolefson is a 30 yaer old who has half of his career sacks in 2011 and beat up on a poor Cardinals interior line for at least two of those.

In 2011 the Raiders are going to battle big time against the pass, average defensive backfield with no edge rush, and that is going to be in conjunction with their struggles vs the run which while will likely not be as bad as 2011 I do not forsee them getting much better. A defense that is going to leak points and an offensive unit that relies too much on explosive plays is a bad combo, and right now that is what the Raiders have.

One thing I want to correct you on there is that Shaugnessys strength is actually playing the run, so he offers a little more than just an edge rusher. And you forgot about Mike Goodson at RB.

Wheeler isn't nearly as bad as you make it seem. The whole defense was poor including the defensive line which will make any LB look bad. He was never asked to rush the passer in indys scheme either so you really can't make that claim, iirc it was a strength of his in college though. He plays his assignment well and is very athletic. He will be asked to do a lot more than he did in Indy. Definitely better in coverage, more tackles than Wimbley (I know), holds the edge well, pretty good instinct's. Not an all pro but not as bad as you make it seem. Don't count out rookie Miles Burris beating him out though.

Wimbley was extremely inconsistent as well. He'd look like a beast collecting 4 sacks against a back up tackle, then just completely disappear. He went 12 games without a sack last year. 3 with 1 sack and one with 4 sacks. Nothing special there, and I'm sure Shaugnessy and Tollefson can fill that void. I won't mention any rookies because they're obviously unproven.

Kelly and Seymour I agree look like pass rushing specialists, but that was pretty much their only assignment in Al's scheme. I'll wait and see if it was them or the scheme before passing judgment but that alone should improve the Run Defense.

It is what it is. A lot of it is really potential based so everyone will have their opinions.

Again, I voted Arizona. So be nice!!

Last year they were predicted to go 3-13 by most after losing Asomugha, Gallery and Miller. Wimbley and Routt are a little more replaceable IMO, so we'll see.
