Criteria- My eyes.
1-Adrian Peterson
2-Darren McFadden
3-LeSean McCoy
4-Arian Foster
5-Jamaal Charles
6-Maurice Jones-Drew
7-Fred Jackson
8-Matt Forte
9-Ray Rice
10-Steven Jackson
11-Chris Johnson
12-Darren Sproles
13-Marshawn Lynch
14-Frank Gore
15-Rashard Mendenhall
I'll do the rest later. You could put 2-9 in any order, its really close. |
Mendy over Mathews??? |
Im not even a huge fan of Mendenhall's, but how exactly has Matthews proven to be better than him?
Im not saying Mendy is clearly better than Matthews, but the way you ask that, you act like Matthews is clearly better than Mendy.
I like Matthews, but some Chargers fans REAAAAALY overrate him at this point and what he has proven thus far. |
Mendy doesn't really have anything special to his game. Tough runner, but not that much else it seems. Mathews basically had carries stolen from him by Tolbert all the time and rarely got into a rhythm, but still put up solid numbers in the rushing game while also being huge in the short passing game. Superb balance, and he's going to be fed the ball a lot next year with Tolbert out of the picture. Look at some of those last few games. high average and was getting the ball a lot against Jacksonville (who apparently every one thinks is a top 7 D), Denver (suprisingly good run D most of the year), and Buffalo.
I think a lot of people are underrating him because he didn't touch the ball much and doesn't break long runs or score that many TDs. I understand him not being top ten, but anybody putting him in the 20s is just crazy. He's about the 15th back right now, and if Norv follows through with what he is saying, he should get a chance to really show his skills. |
I dont think Mendy is anything special either, but I also havent seen anything special about Matthews.
And if he had more carries, he would get more attention, but I still dont think anyone would see anything special about him. The only people who seem to are Chargers fans.
However, I do agree he should definitely be in the top 20. |
I don't know, he has shown some elite balance and has started improve on following blocks. I think he'll have an actual chance to show something this year, as his backup will either be Ronnie Brown (yeah) or Curtis Brinkley (more of a third down guy). Tolbert won't be there to vulture carries and he should be able to establish some actual rhythm this year. He's got some special traits and Norv wants to be able to make him a workhorse. |

|
What? I guess you are consistent, but as much as you think I hate Big Ben, I can't agree with you here. I feel like Eli has had a little more to work with recently, which explains his recent success and stats. I guess I'm a bit cautious of rating him higher because he's shown to be fairly inconsistent. |
More to work with?! In what way? I can't think of a single non-homer Steelers fan that would take Ben over Eli currently. They're about even but Eli is clearly trending up. |
I don't see how he doesn't have more to work with. Eli has a better offensive line and better receivers who produce a lot of YAC.
And last year was the only year Eli was even statistically better than Ben, but that had a lot to do with the fact that the Giants couldn't run the ball so they had to do it through the air. We saw a bunch of QB's balloon their passing numbers after the shortened offseason, so I'm more inclined to think that this season will be an outlier in his stats and not the norm. He most likely goes back to numbers similar to the years before which weren't better than Ben's. Not to mention that last year Ben played tougher defenses than Eli and all of Ben's losses and bad games were against tough defenses.
I understand what you are saying about Eli trending up, but I'm still not ready to take last year at face value and the eye test still tells me Ben is better. I think both have trouble with decision making sometimes and they can be forced into mistakes just like any other QB, but Ben's stronger arm and his ability to break tackles and make plays with his legs puts him above Eli. |
When you say passing numbers are you referring to yardage or passing as a whole? _________________

Oh Crap, this is about as egregious as it gets. even using your own criteria this list is not only out of bounds but flat out pathetic. If youre going by upside why is kenny britt below steve smith, welker and brandon lloyd regardless of ACL injury. Personal issues aside, then if so why is dez bryant 18, if anything he has the most upside of most receivers. Desean jackson ahead of hakeem nicks(who by the way should be top 10, he is 24 you know.) and dez. Andre Johnson is in his 30's by the way.
No disrespect but this list is non-nonsensical _________________

Agreed. If its pure talent, Britt is a top 10 WR. His issues with the law are well behind him and are the least of my worries. He's to busy rehabbing to get in trouble, plus his wife won't let him _________________

Ok, so about 4 months ago, did a QB top 10 and seriously offended Packer fans not listing Rodgers high enough. Did a top 20 OT last month and offended SoS for having Okung down at 17, so I'm sure to offend some one here. No rookies and based on each WR being 100% healthy right now (even though some are not).
1. Megatron
2. Fitzgerald
3. Andre Johnson
4. Hakeem Nicks
5. Mike Wallace
6. Greg Jennings
7. AJ Green

26. Brandon Lloyd
27. Malcom Floyd
28. Robert Meachem
29. Steve Johnson
30. Jeremy Maclin
31. Pierre Garcon
32. Santonio Holmes
HM: Anquan Boldin, DHB, Torrey Smith, Laurent Robinson, Michael Crabtree, Eric Decker, Denarius Moore, James Jones, Sydney Rice
I downgraded S. Smith, Welker and Wayne due to age; Britt, even if healthy, hasn't "blown up" yet; sue me for Wallace @ 5, but his hands and route running progress a bit each year and 3200 yds in his 1st 3 seasons is impressive; Marshall, White, Thomas, and Jackson all have amazing athleticism, but have the "dropsies" more than they should, whereas Fitz, Jennings, Nelson (2010 aside), Bryant, Floyd, and Wayne seem to have natural "stick'm" on theirs. So taking all this into consideration, along with route running, speed, production, size, etc., this is how I would rank the top 32 wideouts. Understanding of course, that #10 could just as easily be #13...there is no perfect "metric"...it's hard to rank guys like Jones, Green, Torrey Smith, V. Cruz, A. Brown on only one full year of production against guys like Wayne, Welker, and S. Smith, so it's kind of going off gut feeling with some of this. Anyway, blast away...and let me know if I completely forgot a guy. _________________

Passing as a whole, but the most visible stat increase was yardage. |
