I was under the impression all this time that Beanie's offseason surgery this year was but a small procedure to deal with his meniscus. Yesterday, Beanie came out point blank and said it was, and I quote, "more complicated than that". When asked to elaborate, he dodged the questions. He's not working out this week, although Whiz expects him back on time for training camp. Ryan Williams is also not working out with the team this week, relegated to the sideline for rehab work instead. LaRod Stephens-Howling has proven unable to hold up against heavy hits. Is it just me or is the running game in serious question this offseason, even moreso than it always has been? _________________

Yeah - there's reason for a little concern, but I think this could be playing games with the media as well.
Another way to look at it - it could actually be good for the O-Line to learn how to block for average rushers before having Beanie and Ryan Williams available at full strength. |

I worry about both RB a good amount. Well can't stay healthy and was inefficient so a good amount of games after getting hurt and Williams is coming back from one of the worst RB injury there is. _________________

I am not that worried right now; If we are seeing both of these guys not being able to compete for long stretches in training camp then I might begin to wonder about the position. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

Wells' stuff has started to get more serious as the years go by. Year after year after year it's something with him. _________________

this is actually not ture...I know for certain both myself at Stchamp wanted to pick a back in the later rounds. Or at least were on board with the idea. _________________

As did a few others. The difference is that DDOCKETT, if I remember correctly, advocated taking a guy like Trent Richardson, which I wasn't for. _________________

well that would have required a trade up to number 3...so I would have been against that as well. _________________

He was referring potentially being available at 13. _________________

Yeah - taking a flyer on a guy like Chris Polk in the 7th round over Nate Potter could have been good.
Having a few talented guys with injury histories I see as a good thing (over less talent but fewer injuries) - allow me to use an analogy, in the server world we have hard drive arrays - each drive has a mean time to failure, but add more to an array and that risk goes down (even if each drive isn't fail-proof). Same thing with 'backs - add one more talented but somewhat injury prone back to our squad and there's a good chance at any given time you could have a talented back available to play. Besides - there's always steady / average backs available in a pinch. |

We were prepared at least, has had question marks over injuries since before we drafted him.
I'm not too worried to be honest, we need one of the two to come back and be fully fit round 1, the other can have a couple of weeks. If we get both on the field at the same time, fully fit, then we'll have a very potent ground attack. _________________

Good topic.
I have a lot of concern over the RB position. If whoever is playing is less than 100% it just takes away the maximum potential for using the Wideouts. A lack of a real threat in the backfield makes the Cards just too much one-dimensional. Hopefully they're fit enough to block if Kolb is taking the snaps. _________________

While reading the first post of beanie dodging questions, i dont feel too much that our running game is in danger. Why? Because i think ryan williams will be able to sustain a few games if Beanie gets hurt, hopefully being the back we all want him to be. LS-H can also be very effective when needed (last game of last year). Chester taylor didnt live up to my expectations. I think we should drop him (if he's still on the roster) and look for a more decent running back. I wouldve loved to have get brandon jacobs in F-agency, but like always, we were out of money _________________
