Football! Bunch of guys live tweeting from it.

Reports from Jason Wilde

Quote:
Not practicing OTAs: Peprah (pictured), Green, Quarless, Sherrod, Hoese, Brooks, Daniels, Zombo, Kuhn, Woodson, Driver

Nick Perry lines up at LOLB, Clay Matthews at ROLB with No. 1 #Packers defense.

#Packers No. 1 nickel was Raji and Worthy; Perry, Bishop, Hawk, Matthews; M.D. Jennings and Burnett; and T.Williams, Shields and Bush.

M.D. Jennings, or as @PackerReport calls him, "The Doctor," INTs Aaron Rodgers' pass in 11-on-11. He's working in place of Peprah with 1s.

For the record, OTAs are technically voluntary so it's not a big deal that Woodson is not participating. But he was here in 2010 throughout.

The doctor is such a perfect name. Also someone on twitter said that Woodson said he would be the starting safety if they wanted him there. Not sure if there is anything to that since he hasn't been in a practice with this team yet. Surprised me that Bush got Woodson's spot over Shields/House/Hayward.

When I saw the nickle formation without Pickett I was like Shocked then I remembered we got Worthy and I was like Very Happy

Do we really think Worthy will get the passing down snaps though? I thought he was more of a run stop guy with Daniels/Hargrove/Neal being the rushers?

I like that Clay flipped.

I heard that Woodson attended the meetings today, but didn't take part in the actual practice. That's probably a reason why the other players were in for his usual positions. It's early on in practice, so I'm sure that some of the players will get switched around.

I was extremely happy to see that our front 4 in the nickel are looking to be Perry, Worthy, Raji, and Matthews. That alone just screams significantly more talent that we saw at any point last year. The fact that Worthy is in for Pickett's usual role makes me wonder if Pickett will be used in relief of Raji occasionally now.

Who looked good today? I heard Sam Shields made a brilliant interception against Jordy Nelson.

That's fine and all, but I really want to hear about Perry and Worthy.

Don't feel this is thread worthy, don't feel like bumping an older thread, so this is going in here for now.

Nobody really jumped out and shocked me today. Clay and Nick Perry were talking to each other a lot. Kevin Greene didn't look unrecognizable as I've heard a few say. Saine looked like our best RB, I didnt see Green. Saturday really seemed to be a personality fit for our line, saw him joking around with Newhouse a lot. Coleman is big, Hill kinda sucked. Hargrove practices with a lot of emotion. Crosby sucked. Didn't see McMillian, but searched for him. Dale Moss seems slow and machine-like when he runs. Nothing really earth-shattering. Thats everything I really remembering noticing, Ill take better notes when I go back on the 30th. Laughing

I tweeted with Nagler about this tonight.... it's still perplexing to me why a team with crappy WRs like Jax, Cle, StL, SD, etc. would not trade as high as a 3rd round pick for him.

He's shown he can get open and make big plays (scored 2 or 3 TDs in the Super Bowl playoff run).... and he's a great, high-character guy.

should be no surprise. teams could have had him for zero draft picks last offseason and nobody bit. Wasn't a huge fan of the signing at the time, wouldn't be shocked to see him cut for Gurley. Too much money for what he does IMO.

Based on this staff's reluctance to anoint rookies into the lineup, this bodes very well for what the staff thought about Worthy and Perry at the rookie camp. I can't think of any other rookies that were immediately planted in as starters.

Although they could be replacing players that are just that bad Laughing

Clay to ROLB takes him off of the RTs with girth against whom Clay struggles.

Me gusta.

Rob Demovsky live tweeting today..

Quote:

Donald Driver is in uniform and appears to be good to go at #Packers OTA.

Also, Marshall Newhouse is nowhere to be seen. Herb Taylor took the first LT rep.

Haven't seen Phillip Merling either but given that he was overweight maybe he's inside doing conditioning.

Walden took his place. RT @PeteDougherty: Clay Matthews not working in first set of team drills, reason unknown. Was practicing earlier

Jamari Lattimore and Brad Jones are working at inside linebacker. Both were OLBs last year

Rookie OLB @DezmanM with a sack or near sack of Rodgers during blitz drill. He's opened some eyes early on.

I'm not real sure how much upside Dezman Moses has but the kids game sure is easy to love. Plays like it's his last rep every snap. Hard working, tough SOB also. Wish he would have stayed at Iowa but he did end up in a good spot. Bit of a tweener that did not run all that well. But it's easy to pull for a kid like that. Great story!

Jones playing MLB would make a lot of sense. Good LB but never seemed like much of a pass rusher. I thought he was better than b oth Zombo and Walden. If he can play inside (or bounce back out, play either) then Francois is all but gone and that frees up another spot for a OLB. I can't see us keeping 5 ILBs this year though and with Hawk, Bishop, Smith and Manning....

Team is deep. Period. Should be fun to see who makes the 53. I'm so excited for this year.

Think they are looking at him in there for the same reason I think they drafted Manning. Looking for the next Chillar!

Game is changing. Having a long, athletic Mike that can cover is a huge plus.
