He's a different player entirely than Carlson, but we didn't have either last year. So adding Winslow is an upgrade over our TE's last year via Carlson's injury. A significant one.
But I'd say Winslow is an upgrade over Carlson based off what each give us. Carlson and Miller were clones. Carlson was just the weaker of the two clones. Winslow allows us to always have a great receiver in the game if we're running a two TE set. It's a lot of money to still be paying Miller to stay in and block a decent amount, but as far as an on the field upgrade, depending on what you want, Carlson gives us less variety than Winslow and therefore I'd rather have Winslow.
If I had to rate them on a scale of 1-10 as TE's, I'd give Carlson a 7 and Winslow a 7.5. |
Sure, but if I had to rate Winslow and Carlson based on pass catching alone I'd give WInslow an 8.5 and Carlson a 6.5. Winslow will mainly be that H back or releasing TE so it's a pretty incredible asset for us. Ironically it will actually open Miller up more too. |
Agreed, I think they use Winslow all over the field. I can see him being put in the slot, used like an H-back and also the traditional tight end role. I think Miller is the undisputed #1 TE but Winslow gets on the field alot more than a traditional #2 TE. _________________ L.O.B.- D!CK, BOOM BOOM, ET, BB. |

But still a solid move.
This is coming from someone who loves Winslow and wishes he was still a Brown. |
Sounds more like a bitter Browns fan. When was the last time he was hurt?
Oh thats right, when he was still a Brown. Since then hes had 3 FULL seasons injury free. And has never had less than 700yds in a season where he wasnt hurt. |
I'm not bitter about anything. You do know that he will miss some practice every week because of his knee's. At least he was last year with the Buc's. He has surgery on his knee's pretty much every year. It's something like 9 opp's now. It's not like i even hated on the move. It's a good move as i said..... |
He really hasn't missed many games due to his knee injury's. |
Exactly - who cares if he misses practice? He still led his team in receptions for the last three years. Plus I expect him to see his career extended by playing fewer snaps behind Miller. Certainly an upgrade over Carlson. It'll be interesting to see how they plan to keep everybody happy on Offense. |
I wouldn't go that far, but i do agree he is better. Carlson would have made a world of difference to this offense last year |
I never said he missed games. He just isn't what he could of been had he not got on that motorbike. It's sad when injury does that. He could of been Gronk like had he not got hurt. You don't take a TE top ten unless you think they are going to be one of the all time greats.
Or you are the CleveLOLand browns. _________________

I understand what you're saying and that's too bad for Cleveland (even though they did get a 2nd and a 5th back for him). I also don't think he could have been "Gronk-like", Gronkowski has insane height and speed/body control. Vernon Davis reminded me a lot of KWII coming out because he was athletic and one of those WR/TE hybrids.
But we didn't draft a TE in the Top Ten. We got him for a 6th round pick. If we gave up a first rounder, I'm sure you'd hear some seahawks fans singing a different tune, heck even a 4th rounder. The motorbike accident was a long time ago and even though there's been stories about him missing practices and just showing up at gametime, I'm fine with that.

Bunch of crap? I thought you might be getting at the fact that carlson is a much better blocker. My bad, didn't know it was that serious _________________

I believe Winslow is a good fit for a number of reason; one of which is that I believe we will use him similar to how GB uses Finley. Flynn has got to love a big TE with much better hands than Finley. _________________

That's what I meant too... I think Carlson is a little over-rated as a blocker (he's good but not elite) but doesn't offer much as a receiving threat except on short routes. Meanwhile KWII offers little as a blocker but hopefully he's healthy and can help us stretch the field and the defense. I think he's an upgrade over Carlson because it gives us another weapon that defenses have to account for any time he's on the field. _________________ GO SEAHAWKS GO!

For real - 130 thousand??? Oh no! He's due to make 3.3 million this year in base salary. Why was this even posted? What are you trying to infer? I'll be sure not to rent my summer home to him...thanks tips. _________________ GO SEAHAWKS GO!

because it's news on kellen winslow....doesn't matter insignificant it may seem. This is HIS thread.
Lawsuits are distractions, but also didn't want this to be added to his list of negativity. When someone brings up the fact that he's currently involved in a lawsuit, you can breathe easy knowing it's insignificant _________________

Even with the Bing logo, I'd take the practice jersey's over our current ones. _________________
