I'm sure Shockey is drunk right now, but that's not what I picked.
I was born into it. I was born and lived in New Brunswick until 3rd grade when I moved to South Jersey, Eagles territory. I didn't even start following football until 4th grade really, when I started playing football myself. The fact that my entire family is big Giants fans, I hated the obnoxious Eagles fans in my town, and Tiki Barber, I became a Giants fan. In 7th grade I joined this forum, and the rest is history. _________________

Let me give you my personal opinion, on what I think has happened.
It all started with the release of the coke machine in Brandon Jacobs. |

1. Born into it.
2. They do things the right way(i.e. building through the draft)
3. Generally don't take headcases / character issues _________________

Ahhahha. Well can't lie. I am drunk. At least it wasn't another Eli for Tebow trade thread...hehe.
Anyway I should of been a Pats fan. But my Grandfather was a Giants fan and I followed in his footsteps. My Dad isn't very happy about it though _________________

| Born into it. My dad and my grandpa were Giant fans even though they are nowhere close to where I live. Come to think of it I didn't have much choice on any of the teams I cheer for but I wouldn't have it any other way haha |

I went for 'Eli man crush' but it needs a bit more explanation!
About 6-7 years ago I moved into my own house and signed up for Sky Sports (our satellite service over here in the UK) immediately! There wasn't really ever much on telly on a Sunday night, so I stuck the NFL on. I didn't really know what was going on, but there was a team there with Manning at quarterback.
My policy with all my sports teams is to follow the first team I sit down and watch, and seeing as I had heard of a Manning before (obviously his brother thinking back!), the Giants became my team.
Seven years on, the NFL has overtaken football for me as my favourite sport and I have about 8 jerseys, been to the Wembley game 3 times (including our game) and regularly book mornings off work during the season so I can stay up and watch Big Blue!
Sorry for the long story but I love getting nostalgic about this stuff _________________

Thanks for sharing. Even though most of the answers will be people were born into it. There are quite a few displaced fans on here. Have to say I've made much worse drunken threads lol _________________

| I am a contraraian. While everyone in the neighborhood was cheering on the yanks for winning, I chose to be a fan of the mets. While everyone was on rooting for the Testavarde and the Jets I chose Kent Graham and the Giants. |

I couldn't even imagine how horrible we would be right now if that happened. Probably have Colt Mccoy as our QB or something. _________________
