Jets DT Kenrick Ellis will serve 45 days in jail, beginning June 15, for his 2010 assault arrest.
He'll only miss the "first few days of training camp," with league discipline possibly forthcoming. Ellis will serve 90 days behind bars all told, but the sentence appears to have been split. He's currently eligible to play in Week 1. |

Well, as Cimini stated, he does get to do all the OTAs and minicamp, and only misses 3 days of training camp. He won't be in as good as shape as everyone else, but this is probably the best case scenario we could of had for this case. Hopefully he's learned from his mistakes, and is ready to work hard once he gets out of jail in July. We have Pouha for another 3 season, so I'm ok with him not making a huge improvement in 2012, but by next season I would expect him to seriously compete with Pouha for the starting spot. _________________

A lot of players go on vacation during that time anyways. I think this worked out well, it shouldn't hurt his season. _________________

This seems like a case of the prosecutor giving in based on the evidence. If he had actually committed straight-up assault he'd probably have been deported. Considering that he allegedly was defending a woman, this seems like a situation where the prosecutor wanted whatever he could get and the defense decided it was safer then fighting this out all the way.
Glad to hear it's over and done with. _________________

A little angry about passing on DDC at first, but Coples gives the Jets a ton of versatility in pass rushing situations by moving him inside. I liked the Hill pick in the second even though I wanted Alshon Jeffery. Demario Davis was a nice pick and a guy that I could easily see starting. Didn't love drafting the two kids from Baylor, but loved the Bush and Allen picks and most importantly--Jordan White. I was so pleased the Jets snagged him in the seventh. If he's motivated I think White can be a very good player in the right system. A security blanket of sorts good at finding holes in zones. _________________

I also really wanted DDC, but I get the pick. I'm surprised you don't like the Ganaway pick. _________________

Ganaway provides better pass catching ability out of the backfield, but I certainly wonder if he has the range or power to actually add anything to the offense that isn't already there. _________________

And the fact is he won't see the kind of holes in the NFL that he saw at Baylor thanks to the spread-option offense and the Baylor offensive line. Not enough power in his knee drive outside of his pure size.
Hopefully I'm wrong, but you can't hit on every pick and I get the feeling this is going to be one the Jets missed on. _________________

| Well Spiel guess your going to have to eat your words. According to Rex Ellis was a player with a first round grade. According to Rex and what Ellis has shown this year in mini camp and OTA's " theres no way we can keep him off the field" quote by Rex. Ahhhh well so much for all the over evaluation and expert intuition. |

Spiel wasn't talking about Ellis in that last comment... _________________
