Jets DT Kenrick Ellis is expected to serve 90 days in jail after agreeing to plead guilty in exchange for a reduced charge of assault and battery.
Ellis was originally charged with malicious wounding after breaking the jaw and nose of a man during an altercation on the Hampton (Va.) University campus. A native of Jamaica, Ellis will avoid deportation after agreeing to the plea. He would miss training camp and return in late August if he serves the full 90 day sentence. |

Doubt he does the full 90 ... who really serves out their full sentence for things like this???
Surprised he even took the plea bargain from what I heard before this case should have been in his favor because the guy came at him ... if what I heard was correct.
Hopefully he's back and able to help us out this year. |

While it's not entirely uncommon for a person to take the plea deal in Ellis' case, I can't help but feel like he shouldn't have to, given what information has been released.
At the very least, I doubt he'll serve all 90 days, and I doubt it'll interfere at all with the Jets. I'm just glad it's over with. I'm really excited for him to have this offseason under his belt. _________________

| He'll spend about a month in jail. No biggy, taking the plea frees him up because the case could potentially drag on for another year |

Hopefully he isn't a [inappropriate/removed] bag, and gets out in about a month.
So far he has been a dissapointment, and this doesn't help his case.
But it's nice to have a criminal on the roster. lol _________________ Follow on twitter @bigdaddyfblove

its been one year and he was considered a project. Not every rookie makes an impact immediately. |

Thats the criminal charge looked after but is there still not a 3 million dollar lawsuit looking at him in the face? I could be wrong but if there is, that can be a little distracting. |

He probably took the plea just so he didn't have to go to training camp. Lol _________________

I still think hes going to become a good role player. It sucks that he had to deal with this. He really needed this time to work on his skills. from the little bit I seen him play, he looks like he has alot of potential and power. Hes just raw. _________________

Not uncommon for a player with his circumstances - small school, NT position, pretty raw, to not make much of an impact in his first season.
What's disappointing is that this will probably stunt his development. |

Agreed. Just like Ducasse missing TC last year due to the lockout, Ellis really needed a full offseason to turn his raw talent into production. _________________

Sucks if he has to go to jail for 90 days, it seems like he was working hard this offseason. He dropped some weight, he said his target is 330 and weighs 335 now after being 346 last season. Also been working with Dunbar on improving his technique. _________________

Cimini is reporting he is also subject to the conduct policy. Lets see what great things Goddell will do now. I could see the suspension you bit your mother when you were 2 years old. Thats a game. Kicked a kid on the play ground thats a game. I feel this is a little ridiculous its an incident for 2010 before he was in the league. _________________
