We currently are sitting to pick at 5: Thought process is bring in the best pure pass rusher (not named Dion Jordan) in Jarvis Jones to play in Session's spot, which gives us a stand up edge rusher, as well as someone that can drop into coverage. Dobson is the take the roof off the defense type of Receiver, however, I doubt he lasts that long. Gayle is an underrated Defensive End that needs work on technique and some block shedding, would be best served as a rotational guy initially Wreh-Wilson is another guy going under the radar, and I expect to (if he runs good) be a top Corner prospect...One of the few pure shutdown types, with strong hands and has shut down his side of the field for the Huskies this and last year, just needs to stay healthy. Watford, is a small school guy, who is strong, mean, and quality human being, whom we have sent people down to scout...He will jump into the 2nd/3rd round towards draft time. David Quessenberry is a large man with graceful feet, but needs help on technique and to clean up some minor things, who shutdown the Stanford pass defense (1 on 1) in the first game of the year. And Barner is the playmaker outside of Jones/Dobson we would lack on offense...think a better, faster, and well...more NFL ready Deji Karim.
1.5 Jarvis Jones, OLB Georgia
2.37 Aaron Dobson, WR Marshall
3.69 James Gayle, DE Virginia Tech
4.91 Blidi Wreh-Wilson, CB Connecticut
5.123 Earl Watford, OG James Maddison
6.155 David Quessenberry, OT San Jose State
7.187 Kenjon Barner, RB/R Oregon

Didn't think this deserved its own thread:

Rashean Mathis CB
Brad Meester C
Aaron Morgan DE
Jalen Parmele RB

Mike Thomas WR
Chad Henne QB
Kyle Bosworth LB
Austen Lane DE

Front Office Changes:
Gene Smith - Fired
Terry McDonough - Leaves Team to become General Manager elsewhere

Mike Holmgren - Hired as General Manager
Tony Khan (Son of Shad) - Hired as Director of Player Personnel

Coaching Changes:
Sadly, Mel Tucker is hired as a Head Coach.
Mike Mularkey - Fired
Greg Olsen - Fired
Bob Bratkowski - Fired

Brian Billick- Head Coach
Rick Neuheisel - Offensive Coordinator
Jim Tomsula - Defensive Coordinator
Tony Boselli - Offensive Assistant

Draft:
1.1 Eugene Smith, QB West Virginia
2.33 Cordarrelle Patterson, WR Tennessee
3.65 Khaseem Greene, OLB Rutgers
4.97 Ezekiel Ansah, DE BYU

6.161 David Quessenberry, OT San Jose State
7.193 Kenjon Barner, RB Oregon

Shad, realizing Gene Smith isn't the answer, calls around the league (like this past year) to figure out what to do. Word around is he needs a veteran and skilled Head Coach along with a strong General Manager with a proven track record. Shad, not short on money, reaches out to both Brian Billick and Andy Reid (whom is speculated to be out in Philadelphia). Brian tells him he will not come cheap, and will want full control of his staff. Shad, with no financial boundaries, sees this as the best fit for the team, and hires Billick, who brings in Rick Neuheisel to run the Offense (from his coaching tree, currently unemployed and great with Quarterbacks, which is great because Billick, actually likes Blaine, but wont matter, as we finish with the #1 pick, thus landing Eugene). Also, a new face coming in is Jim Tomsula, a former San Francisco 49ers Defensive Line Coach, who has helped to develop the 49ers into one of the best at getting to the Quarterback. We don't overspend in Free Agency, but bring in Veterans in to help ease the pangs of another new staff and way to go about things. Greg Jennings will headline things, and will be Blaine's/Eugene's go-to receiver, with Shorts playing the other outside spot, and Blackmon in the slot. To make way for Jennings, we release Mike Thomas.

TE - Marcedes Lewis / Zach Potter
OT - Eugene Monroe / Cameron Bradfield / Cameron Bradfield / David Quessenberry
OG - Uche Nwaneri /Andy Levitre / Earl Watford / Drew Nowak

I'd be so happy if that happened, but it won't. No way Ansah falls into the 4th round.

Probably not. But at the moment, he doesn't use his hands or his other moves very well. All athletic ability.

Isn't Jennings a FA?

Also, zero reason to cut Austen Lane.

Our Jennings? Yes, he was cut.

Lane was cut to make room for Ansah, it may be Chick though, depending on how he returns.

No, I mean isn't he a FA in general?

Chick would be cut over Lane. Both have injury concerns, but Lane has youth.

I believe by cut he meant "cut or not re-signed".

Why Mike Holmgren? I don't see the Rams letting Fletcher get away, would be a big mistake.

And I doubt Tony leave analytics. JMO though.

Hypothetical Question:

If the Jaguars are in a position to draft Geno Smith (ie, top-3 pick and he's still on the board)...What would it take for you to consider moving that pick for a King's ransom? What would that return have to be to sway you?

Looking at the sort of return a team like the Rams got for for the Redskins moving up to grab RGIII, makes me think about the possibilities. And to me, Geno Smith still isn't really on the RGIII level, but i guess for some, maybe he is? Basically, how much would it take to convince you that we're better off giving away Geno, for a huge haul of other top talents? What sort of 1st round pick range would you find acceptable, and what sort of extra picks would you be expecting?

Or are you just that sold on Geno Smith that you'd say, 'that's my guy, i'm not going to compromise'?

I think Geno is far above everyone else. Trading the pick would put us in a spot to draft someone far below Geno.

Unless you think you can get a great QB with one of those picks or are sold on Gabbert, you have to take Geno if you think he's that guy. And I think he is. I'm not sure any sort of deal offered up sways me from taking him. I think he's a legitimate future top 5 at his position type player.

Jags finish with the top pick so, Gene is gone and the rest of the staff.

Hire Marc Ross, Director of College Scouting for the New York Giants.

Bring in Perry Fewell to be the head coach (Defensive Coordinator for the Giants).

OC - If the Cowboys finish 8-8ish I think Jerry Jones will let Jason Garrett go. He is a great offensive mind not made out to be a head coach.

Free Agency

Resign
Derek Cox
Rashad Jennings
William Middleton
Daryl Smith
Zach Potter

Bring in
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB Philly (If that's not feasible, bring back Mathis on a one year deal)
Cliff Avril, DE Lions
Mike Goodson, RB Oakland

Mojo is going to want a new contract and I wouldn't want to give him one so, we trade him for whatever we can get. I have no idea what kind of compensation we'd get so I won't even guess. Don't think it will be smart to extend a rb with that much tread on the tires.

NFL Draft (using Its A Sabotage's 7 round mock)
1. Geno Smith, QB West Virginia
2. Jonathan Cooper, OG North Carolina
3. Khaseem Greene, OLB Rutgers
4. Brian Winters, OT Kent State
5. Shamarko Thomas, S Syracuse
6. Stedman Bailey, WR West Virginia
7. Kenjon Barner, RB Oregon

Why would DRC sign with us? The Eagles can match almost any offer.
