Id love this, but I think CB will be one of are first 3 picks. |
Idk about that. Cox, Ross and Middleton are a good young trio and Mathis should be okay for now. When the big 3 CBs got hurt we got alot of guys step up and gain a ton of experience. that goes a long way _________________

On top of that, no corners from my board fell to me. _________________

Surprised there isn't more of an emphasis on LB in peoples mock drafts. Every starter will be 28+, and Clint Sessions has never started a full season. I'm down for getting a 2nd or 3rd rounder especially if he can't complete this season. I feel as though this next off-season will go strictly back 7 in the draft, FA will be RB and either an OC or RT. _________________

I had posted in the needs thread that OLB was about our 5th highest need though. I think Russell Allen is an okay replacement for now. Plus Poz and Sessions are 27 right now. Poz has plenty of time left and Smith is still playing at a high level. We dont need to be too terribly worried about LB right now _________________

I don't think it would be a bad idea to take a linebacker early. Daryl is getting near the age where his talents are going to begin a steep decline and Session is too much an injury risk to count on for long.
I actually really like Allen. I think he's just a little bit below Session and better all around - Session just has that dynamic ability that can change games.
The position is at a place where Gene could bring in a riskier prospect and groom him behind our top four to take over for Daryl or Clint down the road. _________________

If he isn't then in a year or two someone else will be receiving credit for his groundwork. _________________

True, but if we fall on our face offensively this year and Blaine still is poor, he very well could be gone _________________

I'm just saying what we all know. Gene and Blaine are joined at the hip. If Blaine fails, Gene very well could be gone _________________

I think that "relationship" is overblown. Gene's built a very good team almost from scratch and one player isn't make or break. It also takes more than two seasons to evaluate a QB's career.
If Gene finds himself fired in the next six months or so, it'll be more telling pf the kind of ownership we have than the caliber of GM. _________________
