I know its draft weekend, but we are wrapping up a 3 day mini camp, and figured we needed a place to talk about it.

1) I like the blank jerseys and helmets.

2) I love that BOB talks about every season being a new one and only focuses on the current season.

3)Has anyone seen Quessenberry?!?! He put on some BULK!

4) It's nice to see a QB with a quick release, unlike Schaub.

5)Who cares if Dre isnt there

6)Supposedly BOB likes what we have as far as slot options.

7)We have to go heavy on DL, having only 6 bodies out there this week is absurd.

8. It's also refreshing to hear BOB is a very hands on coach, and not just with the offense. Supposedly, he walks around from position group to position group and is always coaching

GO!

Here's a last season to this season pic of Quessenberry. He's also listed as an OT now, not an OG.

This has me excited. I still think that Q is a going to be our starting OT this year unless we trade down in the first and the value is too great to pass up on someone like Lewan or Matthews.

Ok, so if he's listed at OT, maybe he takes RT from The Matador. Question is, and I've thought this for a while, Derek Newton is pretty strong, but he's not quick enough to be the RT...that much is obvious. Anyone think he could play RG? On the interior, speed isn't as big a deal, but strength is. What would you think of this starting line?

LT Duane Brown
LG Brandon Brooks
C Chris Myers
RG Derek Newton
RT DJ Quessenberry

I wouldn't put much stock into Quessenberry being listed at OT. I don't think that the website listing is truly official in terms of how he is being used. Read elsewhere that currently the 1st string OL is from left to right Brown, Brooks, Myers, Jones, and Newton. Then again, media is currently being prohibited from disclosing information about formations and types of plays being run for obvious reasons.

Rookie mini camp this weekend! Can't wait to see Clowney in deep steel blue and the reports on Savage

Why does Clowney look so thin in that picture?

Yeah Im loving the blank helmets O'Brien is making the players wear in camp.

I wonder what kind of material the white jerseys are made out of us. The numbers are thin. Laughing

Not sure why Quessenberry would start at left guard when we picked Su'a-Filo to play the same position. He is easily the starter there. I think Quessenberry and Newton along with Williams will compete for the RT job. If Newton loses it preseason then he should be cut.

Have they said that FILO will play LG? No one has any questions that he will start somewhere but I'm just wondering if they might try him at RT

Everybody is being very secretive. The rookies have already been coached on how not to say anything to the media. There are interviews on the texans website with a couple of the draftpicks and it's all the same: work hard, be a good teammate, and learn the playbook. Xua'Filo was asked if he had talked to the coaches about where's he's going to play and his answer that he's just doing whatever they ask him. He was also asked if there was any reason he couldn't play on the right side since he only played on the left at UCLA and his response was a succinct "nope" and that he'll play wherever they ask him.

To me, Q or Williams seem like natural fits at RT and extremely unnatural fits at LG. I think Sua'Filo, being more talented than either, then, isn't the issue for me, as I generally trust that if they stick him out at right tackle he will be good there. My distrust comes at the hand of Quessenberry, Williams, or Jones on the left side.

The only thing that really saved the Sua'Filo pick for me has been the prospect of him being as good as he supposedly is and then being put in the lineup next to Brown, who is good on his own, but probably the best tackle in the game when paired with a reliable guard next to him. I will be disappointed if our opening day offensive line isn't: Brown - Sua'Filo - Myers - Brooks - Quessenberry.

As an aside, I also trust Newton as a swing offensive lineman more than Williams or Jones. I know that will probably be viewed as outrageous, but Jones is awful, Williams is unproven and extraordinarily weird, whereas Newton is at least decent at run blocking and has significant playing experience.

Ive thought this as well. I know he got down to 263lbs to run well at the combine but i believe he played at about 270 ish during the season.
