OK, here's another question:
If there's a chance he is taken a few picks before our slot, do you trade up to get him? Does Rick? _________________

I don't trade up. I think, following the National Championship, Te'o was going to go in the 15-20 range.
After this I think he goes back third of the first round. _________________

I agree with RPM.
What you you guys do if Te'o and Patterson are on the board at 23? Who do you take? |

Depends on what we do in the offseason. If we don't address the receiver position with one of the top guys I go Patterson.
But he's now likely the first receiver off the board, so I doubt he's there. _________________

I'd take Patterson, but Rick takes Te'o. No doubt in my mind he takes Te'o. _________________

I'd take Te'o. Not sold on Patterson, too raw _________________

I think he gets taken off the board. Allot will depend on his interviews with teams but Minny removes quite a few player compared to the norm.
I wouldn't draft him. |

Why weren't Harvin, Griffen, Ballard, etc., removed then? _________________

Neither.
If we're looking at LB, I'd take Ogletree, Minter, and Arthur Brown over Te'o for this team's defense even before this mess came out.
If we're going WR, assuming we don't trade Harvin, I don't like Patterson's fit here. I'd still rather look at the position in the 2nd with either Woods, Rogers, or Hopkins potentially there. If we do trade Harvin (assuming it's for a late 1st/ early 2nd), then I'd look at a deep threat WR (Hunter or Williams) with that pick.
If I had to choose between Patterson or Te'o, though, it would be an insanely easy pick for Patterson. |

It depends upon conversations with the player. He may not have immediately removed them, but if there were red flags based upon his conversations with the players, then he would have changed it from a yellow to a red (or whatever his scheme was, which I can't quite remember). _________________

If Rick wants to trade up to get Manti, he has to move up to the 15th spot to get him, I do not see Manti going past the Steelers but if he does, the Giants will scoop him in 5 seconds at the 19th spot but I am not sure if Rick wants to give up too many draft picks to move up to the 15th spot but then again, Rick loves his golden domers..... |

Patterson is 3x the player that Te'O is.
I wouldn't take Te'O until the mid/late 2nd. Patterson is a top-20 prospect. _________________

I had an entire east/west shrine write-up ready to go when my computer froze so instead I'll just post a list of 5 prospects that I'll be watching Saturday and if you guys have questions about them you can ask.

WLB - Keith Pough (Howard) 6'3 - 235 lbs
DE - David Bass (Missouri Western) - 6'4 264 lbs
OL - Terron Armstead (Arkansas-Pine Bluff) 6'5 - 305 lbs
WR - Emory Blake (Auburn) 6'1 - 196 lbs _________________

Te'o's draft position is going to depend on so many variables, it's going to be outrageously tough to project where he's going to go, even on draft day.
His interviews are important and he's going to rub some teams the wrong way with his explanation, while others may accept it. Some teams are going to take him off the board altogether, and I bet some already have.
Te'o is a Spielman kind of player but with this situation, I'm betting he turned Spielman off a bit. All indications from moves seem as though he wants to avoid a media circus for the wrong reasons (or, for reasons he doesn't intend to cause, namely the Kalil/Blackmon/Claiborne Caper). I also know he wants Christian Ponder to succeed.
I think he'd pick Patterson but again, there are too many variables to predict right now. It's incredibly early in the draft process. |
