Two QB system? Could go three QB system. Cecil played some QB in college.
Other WR---------------T-G-C-G-T--------------BLACKMON
-----------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------CEC--GAB--GEN-----------------------
------------------------------MJD------------------------------
Cecil is left handed so he could roll left, Geno right so there's that.
Hire Chip Kelly, do this, profit.
EDIT: Only half kidding. |
If we're going to do that though, why not go all in and see if we can't acquire ourselves a TEBOW to add to the mix!!! |
I don't see how you can add a full back to this formation TBH... |
I think we could make it work.
Shorts III---------------T-G-C-G-T--------------BLACKMON
-----------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------- GAB--GEN--------------------------
---------------------------TEBOW------------------------------
---------------------------- MJD--------------------------------
Have Shorts swing back around to the backfield if we need some extra throwing on a particular play.
Just imagine the powerful running game it would add!!! Might just be unstoppable. |

Yea, but in college a crappy line can get masked a little easier than in the NFL _________________

The thing I like about Geno though is his composure. Like, Gabbert has improved and all and it has always been overblown to begin with, but how Geno operates with someone in his face or hitting him is borderline unbelievable. _________________

That really shined through in the Texas game. He had two fumbles (both hit while he was throwing, if I remember correctly), but he otherwise was standing in there tall, not rushing things any more than they needed to be, and he was still making the right reads, knowing he was going to get blasted. Not even losing his helmet stops him from still trying to make a play. _________________

We really just need to draft all DEs, DTs, LBs, and OL. _________________

If we can get one immediate game changer at DE, I think our sacks would skyrocket. A lot of times, we put on pressure but come up short on the sack. It's been like that for a while. Hopefully we find that kind of DE or Andre Branch progresses well. Even with Branch though, it'd be ideal to get another DE and have that one, Branch, Mincey, Lane, and Selvie (or whoever) at DE. _________________

Dion Jordan, Oregon
(Bjoern Werner, FSU)
Samuel Montgomery, LSU
Ezekiel Ansah, BYU
Cornellius Carradine, FSU
UTs:
Starlie Lotulelei, Utah
Kawann Short, Purdue
Sheldon Richardson, Missouri
William Sutton, Arizona State (2nd round) _________________

Like I've said, if we end up with the #1 pick then we should be able to get Geno Smith and a first round caliber pass rusher at the top of the second round. At least right now, it looks that way.
If we wanna stay with Blaine Gabbert heading forward 100% (ie: not take a QB at #1 if we are indeed at #1) then we should try to trade for a king's ransom from a team that wants Geno. _________________

Sadly, really, there are only 1 maybe 2 teams that would do that (Chiefs for sure, and maybe the Jets/Bills). _________________

Yeah. I think getting that one gamebreaking DE is the biggest thing at that position. Mincey is serviceable, Branch could turn out alright. But getting a truly dynamic guy in there who teams have to worry about every snap he plays would dramatically alter things for our pass rush and potentially make the other guys look better as a result.
Not that it ever hurts to have more depth at DE, but i think the need is for a premier guy, more than just added depth. A real beast, not more Minceys/Branches/etc.
But i think i'd be pretty okay with just going O-Line/DE/OLBs, with the high picks at least, and it looks like there could be some pretty solid value with DTs in this draft as well.
If we could come away with a starting RT and C/LG...our line starts looking a lot better. Imagine adding someone like Jake Matthews at RT and even a guy like Khaled Holmes at C. Maybe bring in a FA at LG to compete with Wrackley/Brewster, and there's some potential there.
Monroe-LG-Holmes-Nwaneri-Matthews
Assuming one of Brewster/Wrackley or a FA signing steps up at LG, that looks pretty good to me moving forward. Some youth to grow with, solid book-ends, and we'd have depth across the board.
Not sure how something like that would play out pick-wise unless we're talking about a trade-back though. |

Not to say it, but Imma say it...Holmes is terrible and looks as though he is on skates and am nervous to see him in April. (watch Utah and Washington games)
If we could do something like:
1. Dion Jordan, DE
2. Dallas Thomas, OT
3. James Gayle, DE
4. Mario Benavides, C
5. Earl Watford, OG
I mean after that, Gene just pulls names out of a hat regardless, it is too difficult to pinpoint a guy that late. _________________

Hey, you're talking to a Canadian. I was born on skates! Maybe that's why i like him.
He did have a brutal game against Utah though. Plenty of football to be played still. And honestly, i'm not completely sold on Holmes either.
Matthews on the other hand...Want.
