I don't get it.

He has yardstick arms. He's not all that fast, not all that explosive, and he darn sure wasn't productive.

I see potential. I don't see "move up in the first round and sacrifice quality picks" potential

someone explain what I'm missing please?

He has super size, speed, agility, etc. He actually played very well at Syracuse. He was an early second round talent, but the Pats really wanted him (maybe a few other schools too). He has raw talent and under BB and Co. he will be a very good player in a year or two.

I don't get the hype personally, but whatever floats their boat. He isn't a bad prospect, but high 2nd is about right in reality...

Because Jason Pierre Paul had 16.5 sacks, 86 tackles, 7 PD, 2 FF, a safety and a blocked FG last season.

Not many players have his wingspan. Being a pass rusher in a 4-3 defense is all about length in most cases. Jones is the prototype. Jason Pierre Paul had simialr knocks coming out, being very raw and unproductive. Jones is almost a clone of him physically at 6-5 270. Jones is one of those high potential picks, and i didnt see anyway of him falling out of round 1.

JPP was a better prospect.

This guy is no JPP! JPP was a complete athletic freak of nature. This guy doesn't have that type of upside at all.

Olivier Vernon is another raw talent who for lots of reasons never produced as well as he should have in college. He is JUST like Ingram with longer arms. But Vernon went in the 3rd round.

Maybe not athletically, but physically, Jones looks a lot like JPP. I think that is what the Pats were going for, just a big, long type player.

yeah, that's kinda what I thought

so how come the media is gobbing Bili Beli's knob over sacrificing a pick to move up and grab the dude ahead of Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland, 3 teams who had about 0 interest in the guy?

Are you honestly saying that Bill Belichick, of all people, is sticking his finger in the air and taking a guy just because has a similar stature to JPP?

This is why the media is gobbing over it... If Miami had made this move, they would be bashing us. But Bill is mistakenly considered a drafting God by so many that it doesn't even matter that he took a 5th round prospect in the second round.

Yup, I did it half way through the season. Just too lazy to change it now. Love me some RGIII though, and wish he was a Dolphin, but not at the price it would have cost us.
