As an FYI, they are trying McKnight at CB - a position he last played in HS |
Moving Antonio Cromartie to QB might be a more effective move for them.
I was refreshing my memory on Davin Meggett a bit and had forgotten that he was yet another of the East-West game guys we brought in (Brandon Brooks, Shawn Loiseau, Meggett this year + Keo, Jean, Meahl, Toliver, Ozougwu last year). By the looks of it, Meggett fell into the combine trap of working out so hard to impress folks with his physique (he was absolutely yoked at 5' 8" 220 at the East-West and 215 at the combine) that he couldn't really play football. The Meggett I saw in camp was maybe 195 and looked more like the 3rd down back /special teamer that is probably his natural role, a role his dad did at a Pro Bowl level for 10 years (side note - Dave Meggett may be one of the most foul humans to ever step on a football field and will die in prison as a serial rapist with a 2034 release date on his latest conviction. Davin has almost no connection with his father aside from the seed which Dave provided in Cromartie-esque fashion with a dozen women. You have to root for the kid, and I think he can look to Justin Forsett as a great model for how to carve out a place in the league as a vertically challenged draft day afterthought who bounced around a bit before catching on. _________________

He played a couple plays at CB in a game in Baltimore last week. And Bilal Powell is the Jets #2 back, who should take over the starting job soon enough. _________________

Texans signed Lamar Divins to the PS. DT who has been in the league for like... 5 years but still somehow has PS eligibility. _________________ Welcome to Houston, DeAndre Hopkins! |

I was wondering why we would sign someone who turns 27 next week to our practice squad, then realized he's 6-3, 340... That'll do it _________________

We worked out Stephen McGee and Jordan Shipley. I like that very much. _________________ Welcome to Houston, DeAndre Hopkins! |

Shipley I wouldn't mind; Unless that knee was completely wrecked in Cincy, he's a solid low risk guy to take a gamble on. Good slot target with solid hands - not a burner, but dependable.
McGee? No clue as to why we'd audition him. Don't we have Keenum on the PS and Beck on speed dial? As bad as those two are, I can't see them being worse than McGee... _________________

I don't agree with that last bit. McGee was in the coaching black hole of the league and I don't think he could be any worse than Beck. _________________ Welcome to Houston, DeAndre Hopkins! |

Called it. We claimed Jonathan Grimes.
EDIT: We cut Mister Alexander to do it. _________________ Welcome to Houston, DeAndre Hopkins! |

Welp there goes us for having the most cool names in the NFL, nah but thats great we got Grimes back. I'm assuming Ruud is almost ready, as well as Sharpton to make Mister a casualty. _________________

I wonder if this is just a temporary move until Ben Tate gets healthy when they will bring back Alexander. Or do they really plan on keeping Grimes instead. _________________ Stop slobbering over Brian Dawkins |
