"I think it will be mixing all of us around and seeing what the right combination is,’’ Velasco said. "That’s the good thing this year is I am not just competing for a roster spot, I am competing for a starting spot and that’s good. So we’ll see what happens."

Munchak said the plan is for both players to work with the starters during camp. Fernando Velasco — who competed with Leroy Harris at right guard during the offseason — will also get into the mix.

“That’s the plan,” said Velasco, who’s been snapping with the centers prior to practices. “I just want to play, whether it’s at center or guard.”

Part of me is a little disappointed that Velasco is spending most of his time at guard. However, I suppose the versatility is a good thing and his amazingness will likely overshadow Voldemort regardless of where he is playing.

At 6:09, the ball is snapped. At 6:08, Eugene Amano is tackling Chris Johnson five yards behind the line of scrimmage.

Fernando Velasco for Center 2012. Tippecanoe and Velasco too.

I hope he takes it and runs with it. Munch showed he wanted to replace Amano(but thanks to Bud Adams being a retard, wasn't able to) in the off-season, I'm sure he'd love if Velasco came in and showed he was worthy.

I support anyone that isn't Eugene Amano to start at center. If Velasco is that guy, sign me up.

And that's the right attitude to take. Laughing

All jokes aside, I really considered just naming this the Anyone But Amano Fan Club, but decided to go with Velasco, who really has looked good when he has seen the field.

http://blogs.tennessean.com/titans/2012/08/03/versatile-velasco-changes-roles-again-for-titans/

Quote:
Fernando Velasco had spent almost all of the offseason and training camp playing guard for the Titans.

But following injuries to centers Eugene Amano (triceps) and Kevin Matthews (concussion), Velasco finds himself the team’s first-string center.

“That’s my job,” Velasco said of making the switch. “That’s what Bud Adams writes me a check for. I just have to be prepared and make the transition.”

Velasco has been a versatile performer the last couple of years on the offensive line for the Titans. But he’d been concentrating almost completely on guard during the offseason and in training camp, spending just one day of OTAs at center.

He feels confident he’ll adjust quickly to the new spot.

“I’ve been in this kind of role the last three years now, so really it’s a blessing to be able to play all three spots (on the offensive line),” Velasco said. “That’s the life of a back-up. Whenever you get called up, you have to be ready.”

Depending on how he plays the next 4 weeks in preseason. I might have to catch a ride on the Velasco express. He has looked good in spot duty the last few years. I want to see him consistantly play at a high level with the bright lights on him the next 4 weeks. All heil the Pickle!! Anxious
