Scouting Report:

Good slide and hand placement effectively shut down most speed rushers. Smart prospect who has great experience and works extremely hard. Negatives: High-cut and doesn't bend knees well. Set in pass protection is high, and that affects power and ability to anchor and causes him to bend at the waist. Soft hand punch. Serious shoulder injury that required multiple surgeries will be closely scrutinized. Did not play well in 2011 because of shoulder, battling courageously for four games with one arm. |

I like this pick, especially this late. He's got some real starting potential. A LT's skillset imo. _________________

Clearly a developmental guy, might need a "RS" season this year. _________________

Great pick, if it wasnt for his injuries, he was a possible first rounder...nice pick up TT. _________________

His shoulders are a mess, but wasn't he on the radar in the preseason as a potential first round pick (before we learned his shoulders were a mess)?
He obviously fell due to a medical issue, but if doesn't work out it doesn't cost much, and if it works out then it's fantastic value. |

HUGE red flag. And it's something I believe dates back to his high school days, so the medical check was key. Have to feel that the staff was comfortable with him enough to take him, but might be a RS year for him. _________________

A developmental LT with a ton of potential late in round 7? Don't mind if I do. _________________

Probably a bit optimistic, but there is some Chad Clifton in him to me. Pass pro skills clearly way ahead of his run blocking skills. palmy might disagree, but that's what I see. _________________

It's a compensatory pick in the 7th round. Taking guys with high end upside that fell for a good reason is what you do with those. I don't think he's going to start, but he can certainly make the roster if he's healthy. |

I'm not complaining, simply noting that it will have to be watched in camp to make sure it doesn't flare up. Would put serious consideration to IRing him for the year if he's not ready to go physically. _________________
