He is really raw. Most likely a practice squad guy. He does have some pretty good potential though.

This. He didn't get many looks at Miami, but from what I've seen he could become a nice 2nd TE in a year or two.

Anything to get rid of CH. I don't like him one bit. Maybe he'll change my tone this year.

I don't mind bringing in Shiancoe, but we should keep Harbor. He has his uses. He's turned into a pretty good blocker, and he can play the fullback spot just as well as Owen Schmitt did.

Shiancoe is more of a hit the seams type of tight end. We could use both for different things, and then not need to carry a fullback.

For the life of me I can not understand why anyone would want to bring another TE in.
We averaged almost 400 yards a game in total offence.
Everybody wants this team to run the ball more.
Vick has to drop back 5-7 steps to get the ball past the line of scrimage so using the TE in the short passing game is pointless.
We were 8th in points, 4th in yards, 9th in passing and 5th in rushing. Is it just that some people will never be happy until we are first in every catogory?
We ran 1,036 plays on offence. 75 passes went to our TE's for 974 yards.
How many more passes do people really think any TE would get in our system?

Before people start with this "red zone" crap, stop. Players can only score when they have chances and our TE's chances are extremely limited beause Vick doesn't operate well from the pocket, with a short feild. Another TE isn't going to help that.

So really, how many touches are they willing to take away from McCoy, Maclin, Jackson and Celek to give a new TE enough touches to justify his contract?

Is this just a case of, people are never happy unless they have something to complain about?
Other then turnovers, this offence did everything to win a Championship and last I checked, there's only one ball to go around.

I just want a veteran because our depth is terrible. I don't expect us to bring in a free agent tight end to solve our redzone woes

Clay Harbor will be in his 3rd year, that's a Veteran right?

CH is a solid 2nd TE. And we only have so many balls to go to.

Quote:
Eagles signed seventh-round RB Bryce Brown to a four-year contract.

Quote:
Brown showed an obvious sense of entitlement when the NFL wouldn't let him go pro straight out of high school, threatening to go straight to the CFL. Instead, Brown bounced from Tennessee to Kansas State, managing just 104 carries for 476 yards and three touchdowns in his entire college career. The Eagles will give him a shot to be their No. 3 back behind LeSean McCoy and Dion Lewis

I've heard players say something about 4 years is considered a veteran.

What happens if Celek and/or Harbor goes down? Injuries happen constantly in football, there's a fairly damned good chance one of these two gets hurt for at least a little. Depth in football is extremely important, and we have none at the tight end spot.

I'm not asking for someone to solve our redzone woes and I'm not asking for someone to take snaps away from our star players. But if one of our guys gets hurt, I want someone who can step in and not be a liability. Shiancoe fits the mold there. If Dallas Clark isn't completely done he can potentially fit the mold.

I don't even expect this guy to have 20 catches. More than ten and one touchdown would surprise me. But that's okay. We all agree we have other players that need the ball in their hands. But we need depth here, or we're screwed if Celek gets hurt.

I just noticed the Eagles signed Jacory Harris. I also noticed Craig Cooper is still on the Eagles (Practice Squad last year?)

So thats Harris, Cooper and Brandon Washington.

I didnt want to make a thread about this so I figured I'd go ahead and post it here. I use to post on the Miami Scout board.

Brown had just delayed his signing day again. Since Brown graduated HS he would visit a lot of places. One of the places he visited was Miami, the school he was first committed to, to see his brother (Arthur Brown...should be on the Eagles radar next year..).

Well Bryce entered the locker room to speak to his brother and all hell broke loose. Guys like Jacory, Cooper and Washington had a big problem with Bryce being there. I mention them...cause well there on the Eagles. There were some other players more vocal though. Jacory was more interested in Lamar Miller (recent Dolphin draft pick) joining the team than Bryce anyway. Basically Bryce was forced out of the locker room and had bitter feelings toward Miami. So much so that he did the "Hat Trick" on signing day.

Im sure they let go of issues from 3 or so years ago. Just an interesting story.

Hopefully they are more mature and there is no "beef" during rookie camp. Laughing

Thanks for sharing that story, Django.

Shows us the little things that we aren't even privy to.
