Shaping up to be a great 2012 Draft for Spielman. Kalil, Smith, Walsh, Ellison, and Robison all making significant impacts. _________________

It's been the year of the rookie kicker, without question.
Between Zuerlein, Tucker, Walsh, there is a bunch of fresh faced boots who've taken the league by storm. Zuerlein's whole 'Legatron' thing has gained him some obvious notoriety over the other two, but I'm beyond happy with Blair Walsh.
Besides, it's nice to have a Walsh on the Vikes again. Anyone remember Chris? He was a fan favorite from '98! _________________

He was a Viking from 94-02. What did he do in '98? _________________

He called Rudolph "Hamburger Helper". I wonder the origins of that nickname since I heard it here first.
Perhaps Blair is among us? <creepy music> |

Robison was 2007.
Robinson was 2012.

what he'd have, three FG's and several booming, booming kickoffs to the back of the endzone?

The announcers seemed very complimentary, almost surprised, at his kickoffs. _________________

Rookie place-kicker Blair Walsh was sick to his stomach and got very little sleep the night before he went 4 for 4 on field-goal attempts in the Vikings' 38-26 loss to the Washington Redskins. The backup plan if Walsh couldn't kick? Punter Chris Kluwe.
"I was ready," Kluwe said at Vikings practice Thursday. "I can't promise that it would have been any good, but I would have been ready."
A place-kicker on his high school team in Los Alamitos, Calif., Kluwe remembers booting a 60-yard field goal in those days but he rarely tries place-kicking any more. If needed, he said, "I'll muddle through it."
When the Vikings went to the Metrodome on Wednesday, Kluwe decided it might be wise to try a field goal. He lined one up from 50 yards.
And?
"Put it right through the middle," he said.

Greg Zuerlein made his first 15 field goals this season, including a franchise-record 60-yarder, before missing three in a row last Sunday in a 17-14 loss at Miami. Zuerlein failed to connect from 37, 52 and 66 yards. He took blame for the defeat, saying that he, “didn’t do my job and it cost us the game.”
The week has gone by slowly for the high-energy Zuerlein, who can’t wait to redeem himself against the Green Bay Packers.
