Walsh’s 32 field goals for the season currently rank as the third most in team history. Gary Anderson made 35 field goals in 1998. Fuad Reveiz made 34 in 1994.

good for Walsh, but next week i'd rather see him kicking extra points instead of FG's.

Blair Walsh has played just 15 NFL games, but he already holds two of the three longest field goals in the history of the franchise. He tied the record long field goal of 56 yards set by Paul Edinger in 2005 and also made a 55-yarder in his NFL debut Sept. 9 against Jacksonville.

Twitter message from Ryan Longwell (@4thandLongwell):
I've purposely not commented on any football stuff this entire year so let me make my first one now. I've seen many great seasons go unrewarded by not getting voted to ProBowl. But if @BlairWalsh3 does not get voted in this year it will prove system is broke! What more can the guy do?? Accuracy, 9-9 50+ yarders, Kickoff touchbacks and a game winner in his first career game!!
Response from Chris Kluwe
Those last 3 retweets are why @4thandLongwell is one of the greatest people I've ever played with. _________________

WASH cut Billy Cundiff and brought on rookie Kai Forbath right before we played them this year. since then, Forbath is 17 for 17 on FG's. _________________

Veteran Ryan Longwell, who was cut to make room for Walsh, tweeted his support for Walsh’s Pro Bowl candidacy on Sunday.
Walsh: “It was one of the most humbling things I’ve ever had said about me by anyone. My response was 100 percent truthful -- guys like him have set the bar for other kickers who come in the league, and they hold us to higher standards, and we try to emulate careers like his.”

@TomPelissero
Pro Bowl nod for @BlairWalsh3 would be well-deserved. RT @JasonLaCanfora: sorry, Blair Walsh made it as well. so two rookies total. _________________

Were you expecting to have to kick a 50-plus field goal before Peterson's 26-yard run (put the ball at the 11)?
Walsh: "I was ready to go hit a 50-plus. I probably carried that over a little to the short one. I tried to kill it."
Were you surprised you had to make the kick twice, or were you expecting the Packers to call a timeout?
Walsh: "I heard it as we were going through the steps. I heard it, and I hit it. I knew it didn't count. They can ice me all they want as far as I'm concerned."

Fox was zoomed in too far on his last second field goal to win the goal. I couldn't tell if it was good just watching it, had to wait for the officials to give the signal. He shouldn't kick them so high like that! _________________

I think its best for the Kicker to continue with the kick even when iced.
You can judge any potential wind and your focused on kicking thru the ball consistently. _________________

Greenway: "I don't know how he does it. He makes it look so easy. But even that 29-yarder at the end, I would have shanked that thing into the fifth row."
Priefer: "I learned a long time ago not to predict what a kicker will do. But people ask, did I think he would have this type of year? And I think, no one has ever had this type of year. So the answer is probably not."
Carl Eller: "When they released Longwell, I didn't know what to think. I just thought they were going to go get another kicker. I didn't think they were going to bring in a superstar. And that's what this kid is. To be this consistent and have the range that he has, I think he's bringing a whole new level to the kicker position in the NFL."

Among the NFL records set by Blair Walsh this season:
• Best percentage by an NFL rookie: 92.1, 35 of 38.
• Most 50-yard field goals by an NFL player: 10. He went 10-for-10. The record was eight.
• Most field goals by an NFL rookie: 35. That also ties the team record set by Gary Anderson in 1998.
• Points by a Vikings rookie: 141. That's also the second-most by a rookie in NFL history, behind former Bears kicker Kevin Butler (144).
• Most kickoff touchbacks in team history: 53. His 61.6 percentage on kickoff touchbacks also set a rookie NFL record.
