What Brett Favre once said mid-game about Percy Harvin applies here. "That guys good!....Real Good!! _________________

Spielman: "We had identified him as one of the top kickers because of what he had done previously before his senior year. Coach Priefer and coach White went down there and worked him out specifically, and basically they are the experts on the kickers."
"And I asked them is this something we can correct, or you can correct, in working with him? They felt very strongly that some of the inaccuracy that he was having his senior year was correctable. We decided to go ahead and take him and we let Ryan Longwell go, who was an excellent kicker for us and very accurate, and so far that has worked out for us."
"I know when we saw him work out at the combine that he was the best kickoff guy through all the kickoff drills. That was one thing we really wanted to hone in on and focus on, was getting our kickoffs better. If you have a kicker that can at least knock it into the end zone or out of the end zone and get touchbacks, that puts a lot less stress and a lot less pressure on your defense, if they have to drive 80 yards for a score."

Blair Walsh set team records for field goals of at least 50 yards in a game (three) and a season (eight). He also increased his team record for kickoff touchbacks by six to 47 in 14 games. With two games left in the season, his eight 50-yarders tied the league single-season record held by NFL all-time scoring leader Morten Andersen (1995) and Lions kicker Jason Hanson (2008).
Walsh: "I didn't know about the records. You're so into the game. Just trying to do your best. I've never had two [50+ yard FG's] in one game."
Ponder: "He's unbelievable. We know that we cross that 40, we're in field-goal range. He's been clutch all year."
Peterson: "He's been big for us all year. When he's lining up and it's 50-plus, it's good."

"The Project" is a much better nickname than "Legatron" even if Blair Walsh hates it.

i don't like the Legatron, or Megatron references for that matter, because it's taking a top flight athlete and comparing him to a comic book character, basically.
i don't like the Blair Walsh Project, because he seems anything but a project. _________________

I could reference Beverly Hills 90210, but that's probably too old school for the kids here. _________________

"Joe" Walsh would work if he played for Denver.

you could say his whole career would be a project, thus, "The Blair Walsh Project" would fit perfectly.

What is the longest field goal you've kicked at practice?
Walsh: "About 65 yards in a dome. But everything would have to line up perfectly (in a game) and you would have to really need it. I probably wouldn't do that just to do it."
What is the farthest kick you've attempted? Have you tried a 70-yarder?
Walsh: "In camp, we did that."
How did that go?
Walsh: "I made a couple, actually, because we had a pretty sick wind behind us one day. We were just joking around and kept going back."
Did you go farther back than 70 yards?
Walsh: "I think 72 yards."
You hit from 72 yards?
Walsh: "But I'm telling you it really wasn't that cool."
But you made it?
Walsh: "Sure."
