DE Mathias Kiwanuka has apparently signed a three-year contract extension with the Giants, keeping him signed through the 2015 season. #NYG |
Great job. This guy is a team player and a very good one.
UPDATE:

I really like this move. He'll never be elite at his position, but this guy has always been a solid starter (wherever he's been asked to start).
No doubt it was frustrating to be shuffled back and forth between positions, and he's probably not thrilled about spending most snaps on the bench last year, but he has never complained (cough, Osi, cough) and just seems like an all-around great teammate.
Hope he retires a Giant. _________________

Severly lessens the need to pick a DE. Could still get one, but it wont be a priority. Wont be surprised to see more offense. |

Lowers his salary this year too. Love this extension. He really stood out in a few games last year and plays a really important part in the defense, even though he never really seems to have a definite position. _________________

He's always been a goner. After his contract expires. _________________

Not looking that way. I think he he's being shopped as we speak. Like someone already mentioned there's a buzz around Tennessee and Osi already made it clear he doesn't want to come off the bench.
I could be wrong but I think the Giants will deal him today. Call it a hunch. _________________ 44 and 21 Once a Giant, always a Giant

Good signing. Now let's move him to DE where he belongs, trade Osi for a pick...draft a DE for depth and for the future. _________________

Im amazed. Considering how little we played him down the stretch, and how much time he could get starting in a 34 somewhere, I thought he was a goner.
Love thats hes back. Id keep Osi, and hopefully draft a DE successor next season. _________________

I like the move if the Giants commit to playing him at DE and stop moving him back and forth from LB to DE. He's a border line starter elsewhere in the league, but for us he'll be great rotation.
I'd still like to see the Giants add a passrusher tonight in either round 2 or 3. Aside from JPP, our youngest DE is 29 years old. Tuck and Kiwanuka are 29, Osi is 30. We need another young horse in the barn to keep QBs on their heels. _________________

Love this move. very underrated imo. Pro-bowl or all-pro calibre player when healthy, he'd probably he a pro bowler or all-pro by now if it wernt for injuries. Very good pass rusher and great run stuffer. _________________

Color me shocked with this resigning.
Please move him back to DE because as a LB he was very one dimensional and redundant by the end of the year. _________________

Love it. Makes for a solid backup if JPP or Tuck go down. And is awesome in the rotation. And for a good price too. It's these kind of signings that win championships. _________________
