Michael Lombardi earlier reported that Steven Jackson wants a new contract:

Now Evan Silva is reporting that the Rams will indeed shop Steven Jackson during the NFL Draft.

Quote:
#Rams will shop Steven Jackson during draft, but $7M base in '12 & '13. So much wear on tires. S-Jax nets 4th-round pick, best case.

Really don't know what to think of this, as a Rams fan, I will be sad watching Steven go as he has worked his butt for this franchise. However he has been declining slowly and getting small injuries here and there forcing him to miss games. Probably purely a business decision for the Rams and Steven Jackson wants to go to a contender for his last years. Wouldn't be surprised if the Rams try to move up with Cleveland to land Richardson.

SJAx and the 6th for the 4th and a low round pick?

Jackson should get a lot of interest if the Rams do trade him. Not sure he gets a 1st round pick though. Maybe a 2nd rounder.

Joking I hope?

Steven Jackson is a great Runningback but he'll be 29 when the season starts. With the magic number of decline for RB around 30 and the amount of carries Steven Jackson has accumulated for the Rams, he's not worth ANYWHERE near a 1st or 2nd. Adding in his apparent contract demands, the Rams would be lucky to unload him for a late-rounder.

Personally, I want no part of him... Runningbacks are a dime-a-dozen and I prefer picking up ones with low-mileage from the draft. Steven Jackson is on the other side of his prime.

Rams already had a chance to "move up" to 4 to get Richardson. That boat has sailed.

That would be a pretty good deal IMO.

I'd agree Holmgren did seem a bit salty about losing out on RG3 and I doubt he would want to trade with us, but I think we will at least put in an offer.

I wouldn't go that far, but it's sad he hasn seen more success. I wonder if lions, bucs or broncos would take a look at him. Who else needs someone to carry the load for a season or two?

depends on if he takes a new deal. same problem with samuels. people could use him but they dont have the room for his contract.

who ever gets him is getting probably one of the best backs in the league, never gives up. He was and still is the heart of St.Louis. Over the hill? he can still go for 2 seasons, you people saw he did with our offence, 7 straight season with 1000 yards rushing, still has 2 more in him. I pray to god he goes to, Green Bay, New England or Detroit. He deserves a super Bowl. Best Running back in this decade besides L.T.

29 year old running back with an incredible amount of mileage on him making 14 mil over two years with 4 mil guaranteed?

Love the guy. One of my favorite backs of all-time. Classy guy. Underrated.

Wouldn't give you anything higher than a 6th round pick for him.
