I'm not buying. I think they stayed sorta true to their Board, but the draft as a whole screams, "Help Luck!" Not complaining about the outcome; seems as promising as any recent draft (Rounds 2-7). Round 1 was as much of a homerun as any pick can be one week after the draft, but what followed was an effort to surround Luck with players that [hopefully] will ease his transition and develop along side him over the coming years. Grigs & Pagano said they were planning to pick some DBs that ended up getting taken off the board right before the Colts got a chance. I believe that part, but I think it became obvious that they were mostly targeting offensive players when they took back-to-back TEs. It was also telling when they continued to take offensive players with 4 of their last 5 picks. That's when the whole BPA thing kinda falls apart for me. There's no way a GM would take the 200th ranked player at a position he doesn't need over the 201st ranked player at a position he desperately needs. It only makes sense if the team's board is put together based mostly on need.
Loved our picks, but c'mon... BPA? That's part of the selection process, but need is too. Wish they wouldn't try to tell us otherwise. _________________ Is Mike Pagel available? |

I believe that if Fleener was there, they were taking him. No brainer.
Grigson has said that there were 2 instances where they were ready to draft a CB but the guy at the top of their board was taken
-Casey Hayward was taken by the Packers after they traded up 2 spots ahead of the Colts, so they took Dwayne Allen.
-Asa Jackson was taken one spot before Vick Ballard at the end of the 5th round
Obviously they traded up for Hilton, so they really wanted him.
Many people have said the Colts War Room was ecstatic when Chapman was still available.
As for the 6th and 7th round who knows. |

No, I think they drafted based on need and surrounding Luck with talented guys for him to throw the ball to. _________________ Why, if it isn't my old friend, Mr. McGreg. With a leg for an arm and an arm for a leg. |
