Why did we trade away the 4th rounder to Rams? What did we get from it?? Was it part of moving up in another round or what?
I kinda wish we had kept that.. Could have gotten Billy Winn for DT or even Alfonzo Dennard for CB or Ta'amu or whoever.. _________________

We traded our 4th and a 5th next year to the 49ers to get back into the 3rd round to select T.Y. Hilton.

I'll be making myself a new sig later today, so I figured I'd stop by and offer up my current one to anyone here who would like to wear it. Dwayne Allen is probably my personal favorite player in this year's draft, so needless to say, I'm jealous that you guys got both him and Fleener. Here ya go:

We just got the steal of the draft. Chapman is probably one of the best NT in the draft. If not for the injury he would have gone in the top of the 3rd. _________________

Amazing draft. I really believe the Colts, Bengals, and Rams maximized the most out of their picks. I would throw in the Steelers too.
Chapman is going to be a beast NT in your 3-4. Allen and Fleener are both more than capable of developing into good players with their receiving skills. I'm not sure what your secondary looks like regarding corners but this team could be in legit contention again if they shore up the CB's. |

So I really like this draft except for the lack of a cornerback. I suppose they feel real confident about Kevin Thomas and Chris Rucker.
Round 1-1(1) Andrew Luck QB Stanford
Round 2-2(34) Coby Fleener TE Stanford
Round 3-1(64) Dwayne Allen TE Clemson
Round 3-29(92) T.Y. Hilton WR Florida International
Round 5-1(136) Josh Chapman NT Alabama
Round 5-35(170) Vick Ballard RB Mississippi St
Round 6-36(206) LaVon Brazill WR Ohio
Round 7-1(208) Justin Anderson OT Georgia
Round 7-7(214)Tim Fuggers DE/OLB Vanderbilt
Round 7-46(253) Chandler Harnish Northern Illinois |

Loved this draft. Really happy with how it played out. I think adding offensive playmakers was important and we did that. As for the CB position, we weren't going to address all of our needs in this draft. Therefore, we lost on a couple of CB targets (According to above noted tweets) and I couldn't be happier that Mr. Grigson didn't rush into drafting a CB just for the sake of drafting a CB. We probably wanted Casey Hayward, and when we couldn't get him, instead of rushing to pick the next CB on the board, we doubled up at the TE position, getting the best player available at pick 64 if you ask me, despite the fact he played a position we drafted 1 round earlier.
This may end up as a long post, but here are my immediate thoughts:
1.) Andrew Luck: Draft analysts, including Lombardi on NFL network, aren't giving our draft class enough credit. And it starts with the idea that this was a no-brainer. Ok, it was, but this is still one of the best first overall picks in the last decade. He is the best player in the draft, he is on our team, and this is nothing but an A+ pick in my opinion. If it isn't, if it is an A pick, what did Indy need to do to get to A+?
2.) Coby Fleener: What can you say? Best receiver available. Knows the QB, is a playmaker. Couldn't be happier with this guy.
3.) Dwayne Allen: This guy fits the direction I think we want to go. He was clearly the BPA in my opinion, and he is a tool we can definitely use.
4.) T.Y. Hilton: Didn't know this guy that well, but my brother was a fan and had him pegged as a Colt. Watched the Marshall bowl game film and the speed and big play ability is exciting. Lindy's draft magazine compared him to Antonio Brown in Pittsburgh. Think of Bruce Arians and what he does, and this guy fits. I don't care that he's only 5' 9". He is going to contribute.
5.) Josh Chapman: Someone on here picked this after the hilton pick, nice job. I had him in my most recent Colts mock with this pick. Good value. Watched the Alabama vs. LSU tape from 2 years ago and this guy was awesome. What a force in the run defence. Hopefully comes back 100% from injury.
6.) Remaining picks: Vick Ballard was exception value. The rest are 7th round picks and will have to work to make the team. Especially the o-lineman who has to beat out multiple veterans to make the team. _________________
