My favorite Eagle ever. Today is a sad day now. Glad at the same time. Didn't want to see him get hurt worse with that neck. Thank you Dawkins for everything and the awesome memories. I will never forget what you have done. You set a serious standard here

Posted this in the NFL News forum:
Brian Dawkins is my favorite football player of all time. He played like an absolute maniac on the field but was a class act off of it. He epitomized Eagle football for a lot of years. I loved the way he never backed down from anyone, he brought the wood a lot but with that same attitude he also took some huge hits (Sellars, Jacobs, etc.) but still, he would be right back in there the next play. I know when I played football I always tried to pride myself on that same attitude. Certainly someone that I'd love to see get into the HOF and a player that I'm proud to call my idol.

Honestly wished / would of thought it the PC would have been held Weds, or before the Draft got under way?. Saturday is smack dab in the middle and could get lost in the shuffle. Either way Congrats to an out standing career as one of the greatest safeties of not only your generation but NFL history.

I still love his last game against the Cowboys in the 44-6 beatdown. He was an animal in that game, sacks and FF all day!

^I couldn't agree more, if there was ever a player who deserved a Superbowl, it was Brian Dawkins. Seriously one of my favorite players ever, if not my favorite defensive player ever for most of the same reasons BLick12 mentioned, glad we're honoring him and home boy is def a bird for life.
