I really like what the Colts have done this off-season though. Pagano has brought a lot of talent with him from Baltimore, and if Luck slides in like everybody expects him to, I wouldn't call that a gimme game.
Jacksonville, however, is still a train wreck. _________________

I think we could easily start off 2-2 in the first quarter. We should beat the Jags and Colts, and the Lions game will be close since we're at home. At best 3-1, at worst 2-2.
The second quarter is filled with teams we can beat if we play our best ball. I can see us going 3-1 against the Skins, Cards, Titans, and Bucs. At worst, once again 2-2.
The third quarter is where it begins to get tougher. At best I see us going 2-2, but more realistically going 1-3 here.
The fourth quarter of the schedule I can see us once again going 2-2 or 1-3. Having 2 home games during that stretch will help, especially the last one.
So at best 10-6, at worst 6-10. _________________ Welcome to Minnesota, Greg Jennings.

What a schedule!
It will be tough, but I honestly like the way it's set up. With the first games being against teams that are having challenges similar to the Vikes AND/OR have new QBs on their squads. That will give the defense some games they can grow through - - - i.e.: make a mistake or two, be somewhat sloppy, but still be able to finish and win.
Should the Vikes go 6-4 or 7-3 (outside shot at 8-2) in those first 10 games, confidence and chemistry will have obviously been developed.
The bye-week comes at a great time . . . unless the Vikes have a lot of injuries really early in the year. Week 10 will be a welcome rest heading into what we all can agree looks flippin' brutal the last 6 weeks.
However -- those last 6 games could be disasters. I said in another thread I expect the Vikes to split with the NFC north teams so, I'm looking for at least 2 - 4 out of the last six games.
Final take, if the Vikes go 6-4 in the first 10 games, they'll finish 8-8 or worse.
If they go 7-3 or better in the first 10 games, the Vikes will go 10-6 or better. Yes, that means they could potentially make the playoffs as a wild-card team.
Hoping for the 2nd option is great . . . but I'm cautiously optimistic that we get to 8-8. |

I'm honestly having troubles finding a loss on this schedule... _________________ "Man, Adrian Peterson doesn't get tackled. He just decides that's enough for one carry."

I don't care who we beat... let's just win more than 3. It would be awesome to win 6 games (I can't believe I'm saying that).
I want to upset some team this year. Packers? Bears? Please! |

Honestly, those first two games aren't "gimmes" if AP isn't in the lineup, or close to his old self. (No NFL games are really "gimmes", but the Colts and Jags should be about as close as you can get).
I'm not particularly optimistic looking at this. I personally see somewhere between 3 and 7 wins, but I'll split the difference and say 5-11. |

Vikings vs Lions Loss
Titans vs Vikings Win
Vikings vs Skins Win (Rookie QB)
Cardinals vs Vikings Loss
Bucs vs Vikings Loss
Vikings vs Seahawks Loss
Lions vs Vikings Win
Bye Week
Vikings vs Bears Loss
Vikings vs Packers Loss

Vikings vs Rams Loss
Vikings vs Texans Loss (Unless they rest starters)
Packers vs Vikings Win
7-9, which is solid. |

This was the best schedule the Vikings could of hope for. The start season really gives Ponder and the offense a chance to adjust and get in a good rhythm versus decent defense (except 49ers). Also, excluding the teams in our division we don't play explosive offenses. _________________

That's an optimistic/homerish outlook. 5-11 or 6-10 is more realistic |

Well the bye week killed me in a dynasty league (really all three of my qbs have the same bye what are the chances), but otherwise the start could lead to some momentum and potential upsets, so I'm a fan. _________________

This is as good as it could have been. Giving us a start like this gives Christian Ponder a real shot to develop early and give this "young" team a chance to get some early confidence.
Mr.Momentum and Confidence are HUGE in any sport, lets see where the chips fall if we start 2-0 and Ponder gets off to a 5 TD-1 INT start. |

I also might add we play the Bears after a BYE and the Packers in December away when that well-oiled machine isn't quite as profound.
I'm selling optimism this morning, drink some of the kool-aid! |

It's very possible considering how many games we lost by 7 or less last year. If we can upgrade some units in the draft substantially, anything is possible. _________________ Welcome to Minnesota, Greg Jennings.

Thats a good season to you?
Because to me, thats an absolute failure. I can't stand watching our team lose to Detroit, Chicago and Greenbay.
LOL, hey atleast we'll get to see who has grown more from their rookie years. Gabbert, or Ponder. Let the jokes officially begin. _________________
