I would trade him.
Give me a Clinton Portis type deal...I know they don't have a Champ Bailey...but Give me several firsts, for a man 27 and coming off a rushing title...I know I am in the minority but he is going to want a new phat contract, and while I think he deserves to stay, ala Freddy, he isn't worth 100m at his age and mileage...

I don't see a problem with this at all. He's not going to sit out the year under any circumstances, and everyone knows he'll be in great shape. If he wants more why not pay him an extra 2-3 mil a year while he's still producing like a champ?

It would be better than waiting until his current contract is up, then either letting a top player go, or paying him even more money even further in the future when he's a lot less likely to keep producing at a high level.

Agreed 110%.
There is no reason in the world to not pay the guy for his hard work if that is what he would like, but this is just speculation.

I AM JUST HAPPY TO SEE THE JAGUARS GETTING SOME NEWS SURROUNDING THEM. EVEN IF IT IS JUST SPECULATION.

I want no part any of any player(s) that isn't named D. Thomas, Von Miller, Elvis, etc....I would just take the picks and take a back to fill his role.

So did Fred.

And he did....

It also wasn't his choice to leave.

Portis had only played 3 seasons at that point whereas MJD has already played 6 there's no way a Champ like deal would happen. But a 1st much less 2 for a RB who is the best but has a ton of mileage isn't going to happen. Maybe a year ago but he has nearly 1,700 touches in his short career.

jones drew is the face of the franchise, he puts rear ends in the seats and practically the only players that is known around the league

Oh, and he is the best player on our team and the reigning leading rusher.

Pay him. 60m for 6 years, we have the cap space

The contract length and pay are both way too high.

Agreed. If he is wanting a big time contract I'd trade him for a first and second rounder.

those better be some high picks, he is worth more to this team than a mid 1st and mid 2nd.

MJD is worth more to this team than he would be to another team trying to trade for him
