I know he only played 5 games, but didn't he have the lowest yards per game allowed in the league for a multigame starter? _________________

Cox rebounded last season after a brutal 2009 and 2010 campaign. My point was more his contract makes it easy to release him, not that it is likely to happen. You can make an argument that Mathis, Middleton, Cox, Youboty and Trent do not cost the team much financially to cut come the final 53. Not that any or all are going to be needed to be cut but their contracts allow it to happen if needed.
Remember when New Orleans drafted Patrick Robinson in round 1 when they had just signed Greer. Similar situation. |

We have ZERO need at CB, we invested money this year in the position as well plus this isnt like the DT position when we drafted Alualu because Henderson was declining.
I know BPA is important, but I'd take 20 prospects over Gillmore |
I wouldn't say that we've got no need. I'd still rank it 3rd after WR and DE. Cox is good along with Mathis, but Mathis is getting old. Ross is ok but shouldn't be guaranteed a starting position at all, Coleman is great in the slot and middleton is a great #4 but I wouldn't want him starting full time.
Basically the way I see it we could defiantly use a great #1 or #2 to go along with Cox. |

He was only "brutal" when he had his foot injury and got down on himself about it. He played well before and after that. The struggles on the back end of the defense as a whole those two years also had a ton to do with bad safeties causing the scheme to have to be altered in ways that weren't positive. The safeties were so bad at covering deep that the corners were forced to play 10 yards off the LOS, allowing underneath routes all game long. _________________

I have no problem taking a corner if that's who is bpa and we aren't able to trade down, but like the rest of you, when I see "major hole at corner" I pretty much ignore everything else he has to say about the jaguars since he is obviously not familiar with the roster at all. I'm also firmly on the Decastro bandwagon, though I do think 7 is a bit high for an interior lineman. If we could trade down to say kc's spot at 11, I wouldn't mind Decastro there, in fact I'd be thrilled with such a move.

Yeah, I think awful safety play had a lot to do with it. The CB play wasn't good, but when you have no faith in the guys around you, it can make you play even worse because you're either trying to do too much, or playing scared. Then your confidence takes and hit and things get out of hand. |

If the current lineup is Gene's idea of 'solved' for the WR group, I will be extremely disappointed.
Our lineup is far stronger at CB than it is at WR. |

I stated for this season so there is no need to reach on a WR. And honestly I'd call both positions a wash. _________________

Where's the value at OL - Reiff is not going to be the BPA at 7. Future guard with character concerns... he's not even a top 10 player in the draft. You can make an argument for DeCastro but again, being a G is a mark against him. Other than him I see no one on the OL who offers value. |
