One last mock; this is my final one. Potential Bengal targets that I think will be off the board in round 1 are David DeCastro, Michael Floyd, Stephon Gilmore, Luke Kuechley, and Mark Barron.
17. Dre Kirkpatrick CB Alabama
All indications are seemingly pointing to the Bengals going defense early, and I think it'll be the case unless DeCastro or Floyd is available. Bengals have acquired a few DBs in the off-season but most of them are getting long in the tooth. Kirkpatrick is a good fit here as he's a very physical corner with good cover skills. Zimmer will love him.
21. Courtney Upshaw DE Alabama
I don't think this is the best fit (I prefer Stephen Hill) but all reports are saying Marv absolutely loves this guy. Nick Saban has called Barron the "meanest player" he's ever coached. Bengals are getting a good overall football player here who should make an immediate impact with his pass-rushing ability.
53. Amini Silatolu OG Midwestern State
One of my personal favorites, would love this guy in round 2 if we pass on OG in round 1. His technique and footwork needs refining, but he plays with a mean streak and would compete for a starting spot immediately.
83. Marvin McNutt WR Iowa
Productive WR prospect out of Iowa who is a good fit for the West-Coast offense. Possess good size and has good ball skills. In spite of Marv being "happy" with what they've got, they have to get a WR at some point in the first 3 rounds IMO. Both Dalton and A.J. should be happy with this pick.
116. Demario Davis OLB Alabama State
With the trade of Rivers, I look for the Bengals to address OLB at some point int he draft. Davis performed very well at the Combine and has seen his stock rise. Could be a real steal here.
156. Nick Jean-Baptiste DT Baylor
Massive size and had a productive senior season. Bengals will likely take a DT at some point to add depth.
166. Tauren Poole RB Tennessee
I'm hoping the Bengals don't go RB early, as I don't feel it's a huge need. Poole is a physically tough runner who would be a good fit in the AFC North.
167. David Molk OC Michigan
Experienced and very, very strong. Provides depth and could eventually take over for Cook. Football smart.
191. Janzen Jackson S McNeese St.
Guy has some major character concerns, but as a 6th round pick, the upside is worth the risk. At worst, he gets in trouble and never plays a down. At best, he provides depth as a rookie and could eventually develop into a solid starter. Does possess potential, and safety is a need.
Summary:
1A. Dre KirkPatrick CB Alabama
1B. Courtney Upshaw DE Alabama
2. Amini Silatolu OG Midwestern St.
3. Marvin McNutt WR Iowa
4. Demario Davis OLB Arkansas St.
5A. Nick Jean-Baptiste DT Baylor
5B. Taureen Poole RB Tennessee
5C. David Molk OC Michigan
6. Janzen Jackson S McNeese St.
While I'd love to see one of DeCastro, Floyd, or Barron fall to 17, and I'd prefer Stephen Hill at 21, I'd be quite happy if the draft unfolded this way. Big upgrade in talent with the first 3 picks while the rest fill needs. |

1. 'OchoCinco4Pres' 12.5 points. (Ocho wins the tie breaker, as he had Burfict drafted, who came to us as as UDFA)
2. 'Beck Bristow' 12.0 points
3= 'hokie' 9.0 points
3= 'djc27osu' 9.0 points
5. 'Tank85' 7.0 points
6. 'HangOnSloopy' 5.5 points
7= 'RedGreenShow' 4.0 points
7= 'Spartan300' 4.0 points
9. 'DraftSeason' 3.5 points
10. 'Villian112' 3.0 points
11. 'kacymcbryant18' 2.5 points
Only 11 of 27 mocks scored anything.
Must do better next year all !!!!
Whereabouts on the mainline UK do you want your prize sent to 'ocho'. As an extra, I'll throw in a copy of 'The 2004 Denver Broncos Media Guide'. _________________ " I imagine that in Paul McCartneys' house, he must have a shelf with the 12+ great 'Beatles' studio albums neatly stacked. Haha. I think the sig is due for a makeover now. But I don't know if it should be offensive or defensive focused. _________________
