At least two teams, possibly more, have approached NY Jets about trading for Muhammad Wilkerson, per league source. Bares watching Thursday.

It makes sense that teams would at least call.

Hopefully we demanded 3 #1s or told them to shove it.

Only way Id be ok with trading him is if it was for a top 10 pick this year and more.

If we pull a Revis and trade him to only draft another DL in the first round...

No thank you

I doubt he's available, but still interested to see what comes of this.

Let me say I'd be extremely disappointed if we traded Wilkerson, but it's certainly worth a conversation. This is where the Quinton Coples factor becomes intriguing because we've seen his ability at a 3-4 DE, and after his rookie year I felt a Calais Campbell-like role was going to suite him best in the league, then we drafted Sheldon Richardson and the rest was history. While Wilkerson is our best player right now (maybe behind Revis), Richardson looks like he will surpass him for that distinction in short order and we certainly have some players on this roster who can help fill the void (Coples and lots of depth).

Again, I'm not saying I'd be happy with a trade, but if we were offered something of the magnitude we received for Revis and possibly more (our bargaining position is a lot stronger with Wilk than it was with Revis), I couldn't help but consider.

The only way that I'm cool with this is if it is for Winston, which it won't be.

If we can get a Top 10 pick, and additional ammo that we could use to package with #6 to go up to #1, then I'd do it.

If its to draft another defensive linemen, then I'm out.

This.

Tons of smoke around this. I'm getting the feeling they really are going to move him. Perhaps they like Williams and believe he will be there? I really hope Mac is smarter than this. Or they don't feel Wilk is worth JJ watt money, which he isn't.

If I were a team that didn't have Muhammad Wilkerson, I'd be interested too.

Only way this will happen is if it means getting Winston/Mariota - that is, if Mac/Bowles are sold on Mariota.

I don't see anything happening.

I highly doubt that Wilkerson is looking for JJ money.

If we can end up with Winston and Cooper/White/Parker.

Just wondering the consensus: would anyone here do Wilkerson + 6th pick for Rivers + 17th pick? (assuming then that SD would package the 6th in a deal to get them to #2 and Mariota)

I love Wilkerson, but getting Rivers would make us a legitimate Super Bowl contender.

That's awful.

I don't even want to trade a 2nd round pick for Rivers.

Brett Favre 2.0

He doesn't want to be here and he's at the end of his career anyway.

It's just inquires, I'm not looking into it. It's not like we won't have the money to extend the guy. If we were in cap hell, it would be one thing, but we're not trading Mo.

Schefter's article on ESPN
Quote:

Just as the Chargers don't plan to trade Philip Rivers and the Vikings don't intend to trade Adrian Peterson, the Jets don't plan to trade Wilkerson.

I'm not sure I would. Keep in mind the huge contract that comes with Rivers, who would likely seek, a lot of which would be guaranteed. Plus, SD probably wouldn't do that unless they were certain the 2nd pick is in play without Rivers included in the deal.

I want to propose a hypothetical:
Falcons offer their 1st and 3rd round picks to the Jets for Wilkerson

Take it or leave it?
1(6)
1(8)
2(37)
3(70)
3(73)

If and a big IF we are trying to trade up for Winston or Mariota. Id much rather give up picks and a proven pro bowl player thats still only 25. We should be using Milliner as trade bait of anything. Obviously his value isnt even close to the same as Mo's but he's still young in a CB starving league. I'd be way more comfortable giving up 6 next years 1st and Milliner. Then giving up 6, Mo and a 2nd.
