7.231 the Pittsburgh Steelers select
Michael Smith, RB, Utah St
Michael Smith is the little-known "lightning" to Robert Turbin's "thunder". Despite running as a 2nd back behidn Turbin, Smith broke 1000 yards from scrimmage, had 11 TDs, and put up just under 300 yards rushing in the last 2 games of the season, outgaining Turbin in both games.
The Steelers have a stable full of bruisers, they need a solid CoP back who is a homerun threat. With Baron Batch coming off ACL reconstruction, he may or may not be ready to take over this season.
| Michael Smith wrote: | Smith’s favorite part of the day was when he got to catch passes.
“I got out there on the outside acting like I was a wideout,” Smith said with a wide smile. “I did some (receiving) at Utah State, but (today) I was running slants, running deep posts, corners. It was stretching my legs, but knowing that my hamstring is healed fully, I was just trusting my legs — keep running and trusting my hands to catch the ball.” |
5'9, 207 lbs
40-yard dash: 4.33
10-yard split: 1.48
Vertical jump: 40-1/2"
Broad Jump: 10'6

The Green Bay Packers select.....
Robert Golden--S--Arizona
Golden posted pretty good numbers for a S at his pro day. Played SS, FS, and CB so he has experience at every position. Managed to get his hand or hands on quite a few passes at Arizona. Welcome to the North. _________________

With our last pick in the draft, the Baltimore Ravens select:
Phillip Thomas, S, Syracuse
"Thomas how do you feel after your selection to the Ravens...?"
| diamondbull424 wrote: |
| Quote: | | I think it's safe to say he approves. For us Thomas is a playmaker that still has upside coming out at this point in his development. He was the best player and leader along his secondary. We benefit from his skillset. He should come in immediately and produce on special teams and potentially see time in some defensive sets. |
