DRAFT PICKS
1-1 (1) Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
1-28 (28 ) Coby Fleener, TE, Stanford
3-1 (64) Alameda Ta'Amu, NT, Washington
5-1 (136) Ron Brooks, CB, LSU
5-35 (170) Compensatory Pick Shaun Prater, CB, Iowa
6-37 (206) Compensatory Pick Chris Owusu, WR, Stanford
7-1 (208) Dwight Jones, WR, North Carolina
7-3 (210) Garth Gerhart, C, Arizona St
7-7 (214) Acquired from Jaguars through Jets Darius Fleming, OLB, Notre Dame
7-46 (253) Compensatory Pick | I like it. I think Fleener was a great pick at the end of the 2nd round. Not sure I'd put that high a grade on Ta'Amu, but I like Brooks a lot, and Owusu is a good pairing with Luck. Good late round flyer on Jones too. _________________

Draft Pick
Rd 1.9 Luke Kuechly LB Boston College
Rd 1.16 Janoris Jenkins, CB, North Alabama
Rd 4.104 Michael Brewster C/OG Ohio St.
Rd 5.143 Marcus Forston, DT, Miami (Fla.)
Rd 6.180 Rishard Matthews, WR, Nevada
Rd 6.207 Winston Guy Jr., S, Kentucky
Rd 7.216 Drew Butler, P, Georgia |
I've changed my mind since earlier in the draft. Kuechly is alright there. Still a reach IMO, but he definitely is a top 15 LBer. I was originally going off of his sophomore tape where he was much slower. His junior tape was pretty special... I don't know what he did in the offseason, but whatever it was it clearly worked.
Jenkins, I like the talent... but I don't like the player. How bad does your issues have to be for your agent to drop you? But hey risk/reward... I'm a fan of Mike Brewster, so I like that pick. Rishard Matthews could potentially be a steal late. Winston Guy Jr. is definitely solid. Haven't followed any punters- the Ravens have Koch, so it's not a position I even care to look at. _________________

Interesting pick by SF. There are still some good WRs left. There's one WR that I'm very high on. I think he's comparable to Brandon Lloyd. _________________

We're happy with the receiving corps as is, but we'd have a few UDFA WRs in mind. Bryant has a lot of upside as a 3rd TE target that Harbaugh loves to utilize.
SE - Randy Moss, Marvin Jones, Joe Hastings ----- John Mathews
FL - Michael Crabtree, Ted Ginn Jr.
SL - Mario Manningham, Kyle Williams
TE- Vernon Davis, Delanie Walker, Lamont Bryant, Nate Byham
Greatly improved over last year _________________

I think you got excellent value with all of the emboldened selections. The top two picks are also very good selections that should help your team. For a defense that was as statistically bad as yours last season, you've done well to add a lot of defensive talent to compete and help the unit. _________________
