Hollinger's new column is a good read. He basically says we're good enough to beat any team in the East besides Chicago or Miami. We'll see.

Shumpert and Smith played fantastic defense. Surprised Amare held his own without Chandler in the game. Great win.

Amar'e was very impressive today. Those two dunks in the 1st half, less settling. Even some defense mixed in.

Yeah he got torched a bit in the first half, but he showed some obvious effort in the second half on D.

I doubt Melo or Amare will ever be good defenders, but the team can continue to be a good defensive team if they show consistent effort.

I think it was Jalen Rose who was commentating on the Knicks new found defensive prowess, he said it best - the Knicks weren't a bad team, they were just a team that lacked effort and drive on the defensive end. They got caught up too easily on screens, they allowed themselves to shift assignments way too quickly, and they failed to hustle back on transition buckets for the opposing team.

I think the epitome of this was the game against Boston where the Knicks were building momentum in the fourth quarter, but on each ensuing possession for the Celtics, a Knicks player got easily rotated to the wrong assignment off a screen and thus allowed an easy bucket.

You just don't see that happening anymore, at least nowhere close to as frequently as it had been happening under D'Antoni.

I still think Melo was in the wrong, but it is no secret that defense was almost a non-existent term within D'Antoni's system.

I didn't think a coaching change to Mike Woodson would have such a dramatic impact, but I'm glad to see it has. The players seem more focused and willing to play defense, and more importantly, everyone seems to have finally found a role that suits them - something they all seemed to be lacking since the return of STAT and Melo.

If the Knicks manage to keep up this level of play, I would LOVE to see a Knicks vs Heat first round series. It would be epic to say the least.

Can't take our foot off the peddle in these next two games. While they are games we should win, we can't get lazy now. Gotta keep moving up in the standings. While we're still in the 8 spot, only 3 games behind Philly who sits in the 4 spot.

Toronto, Detroit, Milwaukee are the next 3 on the schedule. Winning these 3 games would be huge before the stretch we have starting 3/28. That stretch includes Orlando twice, Chicago twice, Atlanta, Indiana, and Cleveland. Gotta keep grinding!
