You don't even want to see the list of the top 5 teams that have gone the longest (as in currently they haven't made it - not an historical list) without making it to their conference championship game.

Longest drought without appearing in an NFC Championship Game: 22 years
Detroit Lions (last appearance – 1991)
Washington Redskins (last appearance – 1991)

Crying or Very sad

Yeah, that damn Dan Turk! Jk, jk

God rest his sole. RIP man. Sad

Really though, how close could we have been?

A bad snap away and a make able kick away in 1999 and we would have been in the NFC Champ game that year.

Well at least three of the 4 teams seem to have young qbs that can get them to the possible championship game someday.

You really gotta feel for Cleveland fans. RIP Pap-aw Sad

That city just got royally screwed by Modell and the league.

Modell moves them and then Ozzie (Great browns tight end) and Ravens GM drafts Ogden and Lewis, then win a Super Bowl, Was it 5 or 6 years later?

Then, Cleveland watches Ozzie, Harbaugh, Ray Lewis and company do it again last year!

That's gotta be the worst!

Yeah that is gut wrenching. I cannot imagine that.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/04/06/dolphins-would-love-to-find-their-starting-right-tackle-in-the-draft/

We have competition for a RT in the draft.

Dolphins are hoping to find their starting RT in this years draft.

Quote:
The Miami Herald runs through some of the possibilities for the Dolphins with their first-round draft pick, No. 19 overall, and right tackle looks like a strong possibility. Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, a Michigan graduate and booster, “thinks the world of Taylor Lewan,” and it appears that Ross isn’t the only one who’s high on the former Michigan offensive tackle.

However, most mock drafts have Lewan going off the board before the 19th pick. If Lewan isn’t available, Notre Dame tackle Zack Martin would get strong consideration from the Dolphins as well. If the Dolphins can’t get either Lewan or Martin at No. 19, they’d be expected either to trade up to get one of them, or stay put and take a tackle like Alabama’s Cyrus Kouandjio, Tennessee’s Antonio Richardson or Virginia’s Morgan Moses.

“@pfspot: Brock Osweiler Could Be Gone Before Peyton Manning http://bit.ly/1qAH4lW #nfl”

Let's see here. Manning is 38, they are saying he's going to play when he's 40?

Osweiler's contract is up the same year as Kirk Cousins' - 2016. I can NOT imagine Manning playing in 2016, can any of you?

Why not? Favre played when he was 40. Then there is Peyton's contract:

http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/denver-broncos/peyton-manning/

2014 - $15.0M (fully guaranteed) + $2.5M salary advance pro-rated = $17.5M cap hit (completely guaranteed)
2015 - $19.0M + $2.5M salary advance pro-rated = $21.5M cap hit
2016 - $19.0M + $2.5M salary advance pro-rated = $21.5M cap hit

So, first off, from Peyton's perspective, there are 38 million good reasons to keep playing.

Second is this little doozy:
Quote:
2015 salary gauarantees [sic] if on the roster at the end of 2014
2016 salary gauarantees [sic] if on the roster at the end of 2015

If Peyton's on the roster in mid March, 2015 fully guarantees. That's retirement insurance for the Broncos. If they win the Super Bowl, you have to think he'd consider hanging up the cleats. However, if he doesn't, they're on the hook immediately for $19M before the 2015 league year begins. The only out they have is to cut him before the end of the 2014 league year, which means the remaining of guaranteed monies would accelerate to the 2014 cap. I think. If I'm correct, the Broncos would be in a bit of a bind since they right now have about $5.5M in cap space (per http://overthecap.com/nfl-cap-space.php?Year=2014). Keep in mind that $5.5M is before they sign their rookies.
