We've got enough possession receivers, id prefer vertical receivers at this point.

I think we all were initially but the contracts being handed out have been ridiculous. Teams were spending like a teenage girl that swiped her parents debit card.

Right now the only one I really want is Geoff Schwartz. Signing him and drafting Kalil would really improve at least one unit on the team.

It took about 15-17 hours to sign Felman. So let's hope we're working on Ginn's contract now.

Who is still out there?

Tracy Porter? Yuck, talk about a terrible fit, who is injury prone. Pass.

I am very interested in David Hawthorne, I will not lie. Stud run defender and solid in coverage. Id prefer to offer big money to Hawthorne than Erin Henderson at this point, but why not get both Smile

As for secondary or WR help, there just isnt any impact free agents out there. Maybe Marcus Trufant, who would be a solid stop gap. Terrence Newman is old and stinks.

Demetrius Bell is another interesting name.

I am not seeing what your seeing in that there are impact free agents left. Just a bunch of guys who are still on the market, who want big contracts, that arent worth it.

I didn't mean to say there were any impact guys left, now I think there are just guys left. Sorry for the misleading post.

I had hoped, I no longer do hope, to sign one impact player. Now I expect this FA class to be as useless as last years, meaning the draft has to be about 100x better, or this team is going to be really, really bad again.

I think useless is a strong word, maybe under the radar. If the team gets Schwartz and he can play like he did in 2010, i would say that would be a much more worthy signing than a useless one.

Same with Ginn, if he can make a huge impact on special teams, take Harvin off them, that is far from useless.

we're still waiting on those two of course, but they would make the free agent class look a tad bit better.

Carlson is going to have a big impact on this team and will probably be a 50-60 catch receiver, given how much both TEs will be involved.

Certainly not sexy signings, but far from useless.

It's going to be hard for teams to KO to us with Ginn and Percy lined up. He can also stretch the field with his blazing speed. He doesn't even have to catch the ball, just draw some defenders away from AP or Rudy.

I'd be cool with Ginn to be our PR. Could also help to save Percy a little bit as others have said. He's pretty mediocre as a WR, but still offers the speed.

I don't expect them to get Shwartz. Maybe Ginn, and I agree, that would make this class better than last year's, which says a lot about last year's class.....

I'll just not comment anymore on Carlson....

Ginn would be a good addition as a KR/PR and 3rd/4th WR as long as we don't spend too much.

Who knows, maybe he will still break out as a WR, he is only 26. Pray

In 2008, he had 56 catches for 790 yards. If he can come even close to that he would be a big help to this team. He has had production before, hopefully they can sign him to a good deal and get a little production out of him.

Exactly. Everyone was saying "be patient" on day 1 of FA. Be patient huh? So far we have landed 2 FB's and a backup TE and most of the better FA's are gone. You cant be patient with this franchise. Especially with the guys in the FO calling the shots.

In 2 years our best FA signing has been Michael Jenkins. The season hasnt even started yet and something needs to be done in that FO/coaching staff. Yes, I hated Chilly but i gotta admit, he did bring in some talent.
06- Hutch (FA)
07- Peterson, Rice (draft)
08- Allen (FA)
09- Favre (FA)
10- Moss (FA)...who i honestly thought should've never been cut. Played decent for being in a new offense and playing in only a few games.

...Now I know you free agency haters all believe its overrated. So you guys are going to tell me we would of been the same team in 09 without Hutch, Allen, and Favre???....not even close. Part of the "rebuilding" process is building through FA AND THE DRAFT. Not resorting to depth and special team players in FA and hoping you land a bunch of studs in the draft. Personally Im sick of hearing "I dont want to overpay him" and "this guy wont fit our system". It's crap. Whats the point of conserving all this money when we never spend it anyway?? We need to open our pockets for once!!

Look at the moves St. Louis and Tampa Bay are making. They are also both in the works of "rebuilding". Mark my words they will be much better teams this coming season. The Rams landed Cortland Finnegan, Kendall Langford, Scott Wells, and possibly more, along with probably landing Blackmon at 6. Tampa Bay lands Vincent Jackson, Carl Nicks, Eric Wright, and possibly more along with probably landing Claiborne or Richardson.

...Now on the other hand we land John Carlson, Lex Hilliard, Jerome Felton, and possibly Ted Ginn along with probably landing Kalil. Now can anybody see the difference here??? Both of these teams were just about equally as bad as we were this past year. They had many holes they needed to fill...and what did they do? They filled them!! What are we doing?? Signing backups and special teamers for positions that arent even that big of a need.

So all of you free agency haters might want to open up your eyes and realize how ridiculous you really sound. These teams are going to be set for years to come. We are literally doing NOTHING to improve our team for next year. Is John Carlson really going to improve our team that much?? Is Lex Hilliard or Jerome Felton?? I dont even think Ginn would. All he would possibly do is give Harvin a breather. The guy has never been a threat at receiver...and I highly doubt he will here.

This is not "rebuilding mode"...its "settling for the same problems we had last year mode". Our BIGGEST needs right now are OL, CB, WR, and S. We have NOT TOUCHED any of these positions. And I might as well add MLB and WLB because we currently have none of those that are worth anything either. We arent even assessing our team needs. Are FB and TE really that big of a need at this point?? Not at all!!

What we need to "rebuild" is our FO and coaching staff because this is absolutely pathetic. Im not even from Minnesota but whats going on is truly a disgrace to the city and the fans of this franchise. Lets go on strike Laughing

Vikesnewcoach...over and out.

Ryan would be the most dreadful fit imaginable for this defense, he is a two down MLB. Your basically getting EJ Henderson, but with an injury issue and a $5 million price tag.

Well the coaches don't make the calls anymore about signings or anything but whatever.

However, I do think Brad Childress would be an absolute beast of a GM. He can spot talent. He just can't utilize it. That was one of his biggest problems.

I like the Carlson move, and I'd really like the Ted Ginn and Geoff Schwartz move if it happens. I do think we missed out though. There was no point to signing 2 Fullbacks. Its not like FB is an important need. Heck no!

We need to move quickly and effectively from here on out. We can't keep given up space to other teams. I don't want to see that bad of a season again from this franchise.
