I wonder if the Ravens will show any interest in Shawne Merriman. Personally I don't think he would be an upgrade over what we have now, but he does fit the mold of the usual suspects the Ravens front office brings in late in preseason.

Nahh, I doubt it. He's just going to be on the sidelines.

I could see the team being interested in Merriman but I agree with SnA that he's pretty much done. If the Ravens did bring him in my expectations for him would be very low. I'm hoping they do bring in another pass-rusher but there isn't much out there at the moment. Maybe some older veteran gets cut somewhat soon but I'm not holding my breath that anybody competent will hit the market.

According to some Eagles posters there's a decent chance they try to deal Darryl Tapp. I wouldn't mind seeing him picked up by the Ravens. He's more of a pass rusher if I'm not mistaken (weak against the run). Wouldn't mind seeing us carry a 4-3 DE type to aid in the pass rush.

This is a guy who came up right after Suggs got hurt so maybe I'm beating a dead horse, but I still think Andre Carter would be our best bet if we're looking to add someone else to bolster the pass rush, and I don't think looking at another body is a bad idea.

I know there could be some scheme issues, but I think he can adapt. Carter would likely be motivated knowing that it would be his last shot to make an impression and possibly get one more contract. I'm really surprised he hasn't been signed yet to be honest; had arguably his best year at 32 years old with NE in 2011-2012.

Carter would be a really good addition but I think the Pats have the inside track far as bringing him back to NE. He is coming off quad surgery so that explains why he still hasn't worked out or signed with a team. Carter told Jason LaCanfora a couple of months ago that he wanted to go back to NE and the interest is mutual on the Pats end. It might be a situation where Carter is picking his spots far as when to sign with a team, his situation is a fluid one.

Update: Carter worked out for the Oakland Raiders today per the San Jose Mercury News. Carter is open for business so if the Ravens want him he's healthy and can workout for them.

Yet he's already proven that he couldn't adapt to a 3-4 OLB role when Washington switched to that defensive scheme. Carted played 4-3 DE in NE last year.

The only somewhat interesting player I've seen cut this round is Eric Norwood. I wasn't a big fan of his when he was drafted and he hasn't done anything in the NFL but I don't think Carolina's 4-3 system was a good fit for him at all. They tried playing him at 4-3 DE his first two years and I think they were trying to convert him to 4-3 OLB during training camp. Norwood is definitely a 3-4 OLB and I wouldn't mind the Ravens giving him a shot. Of course they might not get a chance since they're pretty low on the waiver order. The final round of cuts is right around the corner too. I can't wait to see who the Ravens sign (if they sign anybody that is, but they usually do).
